Another Hong Kong-style romance: Jewelry designer × Australian-circle investor

-

Lin Yuqiu and Li Yanjie have known each other since high school. Everyone in their circle considers them a couple, but they’ve never made things official.

One night, she visits Li Yanjie’s home. As he shows her around, a man comes down the spiral staircase and looks her way with casual indifference.

Li Yanjie introduces them. “Yuqiu, this is my cousin.”

Mo Chenyuan is dressed in a suit, slowly fastening his cufflinks. His gaze settles on Lin Yuqiu with effortless poise. He smiles and nods. “Hello, Miss Lin.”

Li Yanjie looks surprised. “Cousin, how did you know Yuqiu’s surname was Lin?”

Mo Chenyuan gives him a faint smile. “I guessed.”

Lin Yuqiu remembers the wild night she spent with Mo Chenyuan two months ago and suddenly feels parched.

A No. 8 gale-force wind signal is raised in Hong Kong. Lin Yuqiu curls up on the sofa, watching the storm rage outside as her thoughts drift. “Your cousin confessed to me.”

Mo Chenyuan, sitting across from her, pauses. “What did you tell him?”

Lin Yuqiu remains calm. “I told him I have a boyfriend.”

Mo Chenyuan gazes at her for a long while, then suddenly takes her hand and produces a ring from nowhere. “Now you can tell him you have a fiancé.”

As the ring slides onto her ring finger, Lin Yuqiu stares at the pinky ring on Mo Chenyuan’s left hand and murmurs in a daze, “Didn’t you say you were against marriage?”

A moment later, Mo Chenyuan takes off the pinky ring and places it in her palm.

“After meeting you, I was willing to break every principle I’d ever stood by., Mo Chenyuan”

A few notes:

1. The male lead’s pinky ring means he is single and opposed to marriage.

2. A heroine who grows from a university student about to graduate into a designer.

3. The ultimate push and pull between a fake marriage skeptic and a true marriage skeptic.
