A Warm Crossing on a Winter Night

-

The first time they met, Su Xiao was six and Jiang Xu was ten.

Jiang Xu's first impression of this little sister was: innocent, lively, and annoying.

During their youth, they had warmed and supported each other, and they had also torn into each other until they reached the point of never speaking again.

Yet years later, they crossed paths again...

That day, Su Xiao arrived in an unfamiliar city. She warmly hugged a male friend who had come to pick her up. Looking over the man's shoulder, she met Jiang Xu's gaze.

A spark in Jiang Xu's eyes spread into a wildfire, scorching her from head to toe.

One winter night, Su Xiao called Jiang Xu while dead drunk. "Brother, can you come get me?"

When they met, Jiang Xu pulled her into his arms. His expression was cold, and he looked at her impatiently. "Do you really think of me as your brother?"

Su Xiao was thoroughly drunk, her eyes red-rimmed. She looked at him without saying a word.

One day later, Su Xiao told Jiang Xu, "I'm going to get married."

Jiang Xu fell silent for a long time. He only came back to himself when his cigarette burned his fingers. "...I know. Your big brother will prepare your dowry."

Su Xiao said nothing and turned to leave.

Jiang Xu hurried after her to coax her, drawing her into his arms. His voice held a laugh. "I'm planning to get married too. Do you have your ID with you?"
