The Empress

On the day Prince Jing launched his rebellion, the capital was enjoying a fine day of song and dance.

The news arrived in the capital by carrier pigeon.

It read: Prince Jing raised his forces in the morning and was beheaded that afternoon.

What a joke. Laughter filled the banquet hall.

The emperor dispatched General Chen to Dingzhou to capture the remaining rebels and bring them to the capital for trial.

Three days later, General Chen's head was sent back.

Inside the box was a handwritten letter from Li Shangjun, Prince Jing's daughter.

It read: Wash your neck and wait for me.
