After Mu Ci dies unexpectedly, the System tells him that to be reborn, he has to get fired from a publicly traded company. He thinks this will be easy. He'd been doing his job normally and still worried every day that the company would lay him off!

But things don't seem to be going as easily as he'd expected. The CEO is said to be decisive and unable to tolerate even a grain of sand in his eye, so why does something feel off?

After Mu Ci deliberately arrives late, the CEO calls him into his office and spends ages asking after him with concern. Then, with a wave of his hand, he gives Mu Ci a week of paid leave to rest and recover.

Mu Ci: ...Fine. Maybe this is just the boss's roundabout way of firing me: first he shows a little human kindness, then when I come back, he fires me for stepping into the office left foot first.

At the office, Mu Ci deliberately takes a nap at his desk while the CEO is inspecting the company. But the CEO simply scoops him up in a princess carry. "I should have noticed sooner. Go sleep in my office."

Mu Ci wants to say something, but with everyone watching and him in this position, anything he says would sound strange. So he simply closes his eyes and pretends to be dead.

When the CEO is discussing business with a partner, Mu Ci comes up with another plan. "Could you get me a drink? The alcohol's too strong." Surely the big boss can't stand being ordered around, especially in front of outsiders. Mu Ci smiles to himself after speaking. Fire me!

To his surprise, the CEO pauses, then actually gets up and leaves. When he returns, he pats Mu Ci on the head. "I should have prepared it earlier. I didn't think things through."

Before a banquet, Mu Ci pins a little red flower on the CEO in his office. He's still racking his brain for a way to get fired when the pin at the back of the flower suddenly gets stuck. He looks down and quickly realizes what's blocking it. Terrified, he freezes in place.

This is bad, this is bad. He said he wanted to quit, but he still wanted to leave with some dignity. After this, who knows if he'll even make it out of the office alive today! The more he thinks about it, the more he wants to cry...

Then someone suddenly takes his hand. The little red flower is tossed aside, and a warm, moist breath brushes his ear. "Xiao Ci, are you into this kind of thing?"
