Sob, sob, sob. Friends, I really have no inspiration left to continue this story, so I've decided to end it here. I'm going to reuse some of its settings for a new post-apocalyptic story. Thank you all for your support, and I'm truly sorry.
Blurb:
He woke up one day and was told his life was about to end. If he didn't complete missions, all he could do was wait to die.
Shi Yuan stared at the person who had abruptly collapsed on the street like a crashed computer: ?
But Shi Yuan soon pulled himself together. Every day, he either followed his neighbors around watering flowers or went shopping at the mall with his friends.
The world still seemed pretty nice, as long as the flowers kept the drool and blood inside their enormous petals, and there weren't gunfights or explosions breaking out in the mall at any moment.
There was just one thing that worried Shi Yuan: half a month had passed since the mutations began, and he still hadn't received a mission.
There were visibly fewer and fewer people around. Most had completed their missions and gone to live in another world. Apparently, it was a brand-new world on the same dimensional plane, where people would get a fresh start.
Shi Yuan longed to go there. His legs had been paralyzed since birth, and he needed help with everyday life. In this dangerous world where mutations could erupt at any moment, the feeling that he was constantly holding others back was even worse.
But even after the flowers grew so huge they filled the two neighboring rooms, and the vines began to snatch passersby like bandits, leaving the streets impassable and riddled with holes, Shi Yuan still hadn't received a mission.
Just as he thought he would have to watch everyone leave while his own life counted down, he died!
Then he suddenly saw a group of very, very familiar people gathered around him.
Neighbor/Friend/Some big dumb dog: Hey! Yuanyuan/Wifey!
Shi Yuan: ...?
Message: Charge ahead! Don't just lie around!
