Liu Yi transmigrated to the Han dynasty.
The good news: She was the eldest princess, cherished by her own father, Emperor Wu of Han.
The bad news: She would die young. Her uncle Wei Qing would die young. Her cousin Huo Qubing would die young. In his later years, her father Liu Che would be struck by swine fever and indiscriminately ruin everyone's lives. Her mother, brothers, and sisters would all meet tragic ends.
She had drawn a script where everyone ended up dead!
Liu Yi, still shaken, patted her little belly. Luckily, she had a golden finger that could cure her uncle and cousin's illnesses and extend their lives.
She decided to learn from Emperor Taizong of Tang, Li Shimin, and follow his path to self-preservation. Once she came of age, she would secure her fief at Yanyi as soon as possible, win over her uncle and cousin, recruit allies, secretly raise troops, and finally launch the Xuanwu Gate coup and put her father under house arrest.
But her golden finger was bound to a sign-in System. She had to say at least a hundred sweet things to Emperor Wu every day to exchange for rewards.
So Liu Yi racked her brains to come up with a whole collection of declarations of love for her father. Every day, she toddled around the palace shouting, "My father is the wisest and mightiest of emperors! Yi'er loves Father most of all!" as she ran off to find him and complete her daily sign-in.
Before long, the whole palace was buzzing with envy: Oh my goodness, the eldest princess is just too adorable! I've never seen anyone's daughter be so thoughtful and considerate. His Majesty is truly blessed!
Liu Che was delighted. Every day, he bragged to his ministers about how adorable, sweet, clever, and lively his daughter was.
Until one day, as he was holding the little dumpling up in the air, a familiar child's voice suddenly rang in his mind: [Well, since he's treated me pretty well, I suppose I'll let him stay in the palace as Retired Emperor and enjoy his old age.]
Liu Che: ...???!!!
It was an illusion. It had to be an illusion!
But a little while later, the little dumpling's voice sounded again: [Wow, this time the reward is high-yield corn. It produces 2,000 jin per mu!]
Liu Che's eyes lit up, and he blurted out, "It really produces that much??"
Liu Yi looked up at him in confusion. "Huh? Father, what are you talking about?"
The next moment, Liu Che heard her thoughts again: [No way, could he already be showing signs of dementia while he's still so young? This won't do. I'm not grown up yet, and the swine fever absolutely can't break out early!]
So, from that day on:
Liu Yi began sincerely worrying about Emperor Wu's health. Every few days, she would have someone bring him medicinal food, and she insisted on watching him eat it all before leaving.
Meanwhile, after quietly asking the Daoist alchemists, Liu Che became even more convinced that his daughter was a little immortal child sent down from heaven. He began plotting how to get his hands on that miraculous seed that yielded 2,000 jin per mu. No, she must also have an elixir of immortality!
As the father and daughter kept up their loving act, the people of the Han dynasty watched their surplus grain grow and smiled. The court began building new granaries everywhere and hiring people to make warm cotton-wool clothes for the soldiers. The ministers discovered that although His Majesty was sending out armies to fight the Xiongnu, the treasury was growing richer and richer!
Reader's Guide:
1. This is a parallel universe, not real history. It's a plot-driven wish-fulfillment story, and the father and daughter aren't loving and dutiful in the traditional sense. They're both sly foxes who scheme against each other. The story involves infrastructure projects and court intrigue.
2. The female lead will eventually ascend the throne. Her love interest is Cao Xiang. There isn't much romance, since most of the story takes place during her childhood.
