[A heavily altered history of the Moon Cell. The satellite characters are practically blank slates, and everything the original never covered is made up by me.]
[An oddball idea born of my peculiar tastes. Expect plenty of OOC moments. Original fans and source-material purists, proceed with caution. If you haven't read the original, feel free to dive in.]
[Top! Top! Top! Don't start ship wars or reverse the pairing. This couple is endgame.]
Stranded in a Western fantasy medieval world, Flavius has spent over a decade wandering Constantinople.
After exhausting every option, Flavius finally uses his uncle's connections to get close to a rising star in the military. He persuades him to seize the throne from the emperor using the Praetorian Guard succession law, and when his man rises to power, Flavius rises with him.
From then on, he and his superior enjoy smooth sailing, sweeping across Europe and uniting the East and West, creating a timeline that would send Romanophiles into ecstasy.
His superior also rebuilds Rome by accomplishing the empire's reconquest. The people bestow upon him such nicknames as the god's shadow walking the earth, the strongest man on the continent, and Rome's undying glory of war. Everyone respectfully calls him the Sword Emperor of Rome.
And anyway, even such a hard-core, ruthless man is his boyfriend.
The empire's consul, its permanent deputy emperor [Caesar], a prophet, and the current head of the Mage's Association, the great and glorious Flavius Petrus Sabbatius, gets a like.jpg

Flavius thought that after the ups and downs of his youth, he would finally get to live the happy life he'd always dreamed of.
He and his boyfriend would rule the empire together, all sweet and happy, raise a few children, and then die in each other's arms decades later, leaving a stirring, legendary chapter in the history books of this alternate world.
That was until the emperor's sword pointed toward the island of Britain. The spirited young man said goodbye to him, excitement and wild abandon in his Bacchus-kissed violet eyes. His brilliant red hair danced in the wind as he turned away.
...And then, without warning, Flavius met a tragic end, all because of the name that rang across the land:
Arthur Pendragon.
*
“So...” The black-haired, golden-eyed young man wore a bright smile as he calmly finished recounting the turning point in his life.
His sword hand pressed down harder, and the blades scraped together with a clang. Looking at King Arthur's conflicted expression, Flavius laughed.
“Master, there's no need to keep trying to break up our fight. It won't work.”
The Roman emperor's golden eyes were as cold as a snake's.
“Until I find Lucius, my anger will never abate.”
*
Lucius Sibelius.
His sovereign, his beloved, his other half and eternal home.
...And also a [ghost] who [should never have existed], [corrected] and [erased], ground into the dust of history, and [forcibly forgotten] by the world.
He would bring him back.

“Your Majesty Justinian, please calm down! We're not saying you can't settle your old scores, but fight all you want without tearing Chaldea apart!”
Oh, right.
He was adopted by his uncle, so he acquired an additional family name: Justinianus.
Later, the history books did indeed tell his story, honoring him as Justinian the Great.
[A somewhat blasphemous narcissistic crossover pairing: Justinian (Flavius) x Lucius. The positions matter.]
[The first half is about rising to power in the medieval era, marrying the emperor and becoming emperor. The second half should be a strange tale after becoming a Heroic Spirit: a journey to find his wife.]
[Arthur is not demonized!! But Lucius and Arthur are enemies, and Flavius really does hold a grudge against Arthur. Don't read if that bothers you.]
Theme: You and I share one glory and one shadow
