[Harry Potter] Miss Rose and the Little Bat

"I like you!"

When Severus Snape hears this confession, he is filled with disgust. He doesn't believe anyone in the world would pursue him, especially not a pure-blood young lady. This must be some sort of trick.

Later, at some point after he falls in love with Rose, he starts worrying that she may have given up on him because of his rude rejection, or because he repeatedly doused her pursuit with cold water.

~~

Actually, Rose originally confessed to the gloomy, hard-to-get-along-with Snape because she didn't want the Fawley family to fall into the hands of another pure-blood family. She had to marry a half-blood, since only a half-blood might marry into her family, right?

Besides, she just loves the way Senior Snape turns every word into a sarcastic jab. He's so adorable!
