Bumping My Way Into the Demon Lord's Heart as a Little Bird

1.

Wu Que transmigrated into a book, becoming a plump, round baby tree sparrow. To support himself, Wu Que, who had spent eighteen years as a human and never learned to hunt, decided to get himself a meal ticket by staging a little accident. Well, not exactly: he would find someone willing to feed him long-term.

On the eighth day of searching, Wu Que found a suitable candidate:

A handsome young man who brought a basket of food into the woods every day to feed the little animals. He was obviously a kind-hearted animal lover.

Aha, you're the one!

Seizing the chance, Wu Que flapped his wings and flew toward the man, then flopped down beside his hand, pretending to be hurt:

Look at me, chirp chirp! Chirp chirp is hurt and needs help right away!

2.

Ruan Wu Que was taken home.

Having a meal ticket made all the difference. He didn't have to hunt, there was spiritual grain when he was hungry and a soft nest when he was tired. What a comfortable life!

Only, this meal ticket wasn't quite what he had imagined.

Wasn't he supposed to be a kind-hearted animal lover who liked feeding little animals? Wu Que trembled at the sight of giant beasts fighting to the death. Why were all the animals he kept such savage demon beasts?!

3.

Later, Wu Que learned that not only did the man keep demon beasts, he was the most terrifying demon dragon in the world himself, as well as the great villain in the book, the Demon Lord Dong Lingye.

Ruan Qiu, who had always been terrified of long, snake-like creatures: Is it too late for me to run away?

Sensing his intentions, Dong Lingye reverted to his true form and curled his enormous dragon body around him, pinning him against his belly. Cold, hard scales slid across his skin, and hot breath brushed his ear. "Chirp chirp, you were the one who came and bumped into my hand. How can you turn around and pretend you don't know me?"

Wu Que was close to tears: ...But you never said you were a dragon! And such a long one, too!
