As a modern-day wage slave, Boss Qiu had been shouldering far too much pressure ever since college. There were his unhinged classmates, his boss who did nothing but pontificate, and the toadies who did his boss's talking for him. He had elderly parents to support and children to raise, and even his relatives were a handful. There was no better word for it than a complete mess.
Enough was enough. Boss Qiu tore into his boss and coworkers, quit on the spot, and took the documents he'd spent years compiling straight to court. He'd endured years of misery at this godforsaken company, and at last, the day had come.
Unfortunately, the crooked company dragged its feet over the arbitration fees, his relatives came around to meddle, and an unhinged classmate he hadn't seen in years started causing trouble.
Now the owner of a small restaurant, Boss Qiu chopped meat with a cleaver every day as if he were hacking at people. His chopping board went thwack, thwack, thwack, and the street where his restaurant stood was promoted to one of the safest streets around.
Then one day.
Just as he was about to close up for a break, a customer came into his restaurant and ordered dish after dish, as if they hadn't eaten in eight hundred years. Out of basic human decency, Boss Qiu reluctantly made a few dishes. But after one bite, the customer started criticizing his cooking nonstop and had no intention of paying. They didn't seem to have come for a meal so much as to pick a fight.
And that wasn't all. The customer threatened and intimidated Boss Qiu, with bloody tears streaming from their eyes, a tongue lolling far out of their mouth, and a noose mark around their neck. They looked terrifying, but Boss Qiu only cared about one thing: they'd dirtied the floor he'd just finished cleaning!
He'd just mopped it before closing!
The customer was a ghost, not a person, but Boss Qiu, who was furious enough to keel over, couldn't care less.
With a bellyful of resentment, and averaging three huge pots of chrysanthemum tea a day, Boss Qiu raised his cleaver under the terrified gaze of his employee, chopped his cutting board in two, then put on his apron and went to town on the ghost trying to dine and dash.
What the hell was a ghost? My resentment is worse than any ghost's!
The ghost, nearly chopped into mince, clung to Boss Qiu's leg and wailed like a banshee. It barely managed to save its life, and only got released after working at the restaurant for three days.
And so, rumors spread throughout the ghost and occult worlds that a profoundly powerful Ghost King was cooking at a restaurant.
Message: Strive to be the master of your own life
We can't just forget about it. Isn't it a small family workshop? It seems that the boss is not a good person. In addition to labor arbitration, we can also report him for fire safety hazards or tax evasion suspicions.
Hahahahahahahahahahahahahaha!!! Life is really painful, baby
