Pretending to Be in Love

Because Lu Tang has a face prettier than an omega's, everyone assumes she'll eventually present as an omega, including Lu Tang herself.

But, to everyone's surprise, when she enters her presentation period at sixteen, she presents as a beta.

Compared with her high-ranking, handsome older brother, who would be dazzling whether he presented as an alpha or an omega, Lu Tang has no advantages at all.

If Lu Tang were an omega, she might have some value in a political marriage. Now that she's become a beta, so weak and powerless, the Lu family is bound to abandon her.

As everyone looks at her with either mockery or pity, Lu Tang notices text floating above her head, visible only to her.

That's when she learns that the world she's in is a novel, and that the lines of text that keep appearing at random are bullet comments.

Popularity determines how much attention a character gets in the story and whether they make it to the end.

[Ahhh, Jiang Chi is so handsome! That face is God's final project, right? So imposing, and so powerful! Who doesn't love a gorgeous, strong, satisfying character?!]

[I admit Jiang Chi is great, but Young Master Desen is even better! Who could resist a haughty big cat with blond hair and blue eyes? And he's a cat who pilots a combat mech! The contrast is adorable!]

[Please, arrogant characters have been out of fashion forever! Our Saint is the one true god!]

[...]

Amid the countless bullet comments fawning over the chosen elites, a special one popped up.

[...Okay, but am I the only one who loves Lu Tang's face? It'd be such a waste not to pair her up with someone and ship them.]

[? How can a beta have a CP? They can't even be marked. There's nothing to ship.]

Nothing to ship?

A beta who can't be affected by pheromones or marked can love more purely than an alpha and omega, who can hardly resist their instincts.

If I love you with a passion that is pure, untouched by outside influences, asking for nothing in return and following only my heart, then unless you're heartless, even a block of ice would be moved, wouldn't it?

And so Lu Tang finds a way to become popular through the bullet comments:

Pretend to be in a pure, devoted romance.

Theme: Love yourself, and others will love you.
