Long-Planned

[A sugary little treat, just over 100,000 characters]

In her second year of high school, a boy moved into Ning Zhi's residential compound.

Though he came from a poor family and was frail and delicate,

he was upright and an excellent student.

His face was strikingly beautiful, too. When his phoenix eyes swept over you, he was as bewitching as some mountain spirit from a picture book.

He was the complete opposite of Ning Zhi, an aimless little hellion who never studied.

He was every parent's dream child.

At first, Ning Zhi paid him no mind.

Aside from living in the same compound, they were basically parallel lines that would never meet.

That is, until he became her classmate.

And until her parents gradually shifted their dinner-table conversations from everyday scolding to praising him while putting her down.

Ning Zhi began to resent Shen Huai.

She made things difficult for him, bullied him, and did whatever she pleased.

One day at dinner, Ning's mother looked over the grades just posted in the parents' group chat.

"Look at that, the Shen boy is first in the whole grade again. Now look at our kid... Never mind, she's so far down I can't be bothered to scroll."

Ning Zhi, head down as she ate, sneered.

"Hah, so what if his grades are great?"

"He's still dating someone in high school."

"...?"
