I haven't played Honkai: Star Rail in a long time, so I probably won't write this story. But I still think the blurb is really good, so I invite you all to enjoy it.
As you pass through Exalting Sanctum, you nearly go blind from the enormous billboards on either side of the San Yu Book House entrance. Garish neon lights flash in alternating, oversaturated rainbow colors, forming eye-catching recommendations visible from five hundred meters away. They almost turn the night sky over Exalting Sanctum into a rainbow:
"A renowned historian tells you: Six secrets hidden in piles of old books!"
"Mr. Xiya wholeheartedly recommends this book: a perfect balance of documentary realism and literary merit!"
"The Earth-Balance Commission held thirty symposiums just to discuss this passage!"
"Featuring an exclusive interview with General Jing Yuan: So this is what the Reignbow Arbiter is really like!"
You stop without thinking and squint as you read through the long, dazzling advertisements one by one.
"Care to buy a copy?" asks the shopkeeper, who is much older than you.
Your overwhelming urge to collect things takes control, and your hand reaches for your Credits.
One: Comrades in Arms
The nameless diviner lived a very long time, but he never admitted that he had known the great hero of the Xianzhou.
"It took me a long time to realize that from the day I ate the fruit of the Ambrosial Arbor, I was no longer worthy of being his friend."
Two: Plumes of Light
But one arrow of light was faster than a fully accelerated starskiff. Wrapped in blazing stardust, it tore through the dark universe and shot straight toward the connection between the Ambrosial Arbor and the World-Tree. The instant its arrowhead struck the trunk, Imaginary Energy burst forth, setting off a violent magnetic storm in the universe. Its shock waves reached the Xuling Xianzhou, at the very edge of the battlefield.
In the next instant, starting where the arrow of light had pierced the trunk, the branches and leaves of the towering tree disintegrated inch by inch.
What power could possibly stand against the blessings of Abundance?
Only a human being was needed. The will and life of a human who had not even yet transformed into a Long-Life Species were more than enough.
Three: Gazing Down
"The title 'Reignbow Arbiter' came into being long before Hunt formally appeared as an Aeon. For the hundreds of Star Calendar years before Hunt first manifested, that title belonged to the hero who destroyed the World-Tree alongside Emperor Zhuanxu."
A Brief History of the Xianzhou Alliance's Faith Crisis
"So you Xianzhou natives casually gave an Aeon a title that once belonged to a human?" The visiting historian was astonished.
"Well, the Reignbow Arbiter never objected," the Xianzhou chroniclers replied, shrugging indifferently.
On the other side of a sea of stars, tens of millions of light-years away, Lan abruptly paused in the endless Hunt and turned back to gaze upon their homeland.
Aeons have no past. From the moment they ascend, their past and future are swallowed by their Paths. So there could no longer be any concrete evidence linking Hunt to the nameless hero of Xianzhou Yaoqing.
And yet the Xianzhou natives stubbornly and firmly continued to connect the Aeon with the person he had once been.
Four: The Fox's Seal
Shutting my door and abstaining from food, I began in the southern land; I crossed green mountains, yearning to return to my ancestral home.
The golden markets of the mortal world had long since appeared, while the white jade towers in heaven were still delayed.
It is common knowledge across the star systems that Foxians are naturally cunning, skilled at negotiation and commerce. These beautiful beings are the group on the Xianzhou most eager to initiate contact with the Corporation or any other faction. They lead merchant caravans between realms, turning transport skiffs laden with goods into mighty currents that flow ceaselessly in and out of the Jade Gate. Compared with the Xianzhou natives, who rarely set foot on a planet's surface, these smiling, sociable Foxians seem especially approachable.
But if you take that to mean they are a weak point in the Xianzhou Alliance, you are sorely mistaken.
Five: Divine Wanderings
Do Aeons communicate with one another?
This hardly seems like a subject worth researching, since the answer is unquestionably yes.
Thousands of Amber Eras ago, Tayzzyronth the Propagation was slain by a coalition of Aeons including Equilibrium, Preservation, Trailblaze, Elation, and Harmony. Later, Aha disguised themself as a mortal and hid aboard the Astral Express for over a year to play a prank on Akivili and the Nameless. When Herta invited testers to impersonate the fallen Akivili in the Simulated Universe, she was hoping to explore that unprecedented mystery through the interactions between the other Aeons and Akivili.
So, has Hunt ever communicated with the other Aeons, or will they do so in the future?
Six: Dream Encounter
Jing Yuan rarely told anyone that on the day he was appointed general of the Luofu, he met the Reignbow Arbiter in a dream.
In the dream, spring water flowed through Scalegorge Waterscape, green grass covered the Verdant Plains, Starskiff Haven bustled with people, and Exalting Sanctum was filled with kind-hearted, honest folk. Everything was frozen in its most beautiful state. The centaur-like Aeon stood upon the withered branches of the Ambrosial Arbor, a longbow slung behind their back. They removed their mask with one hand and gazed quietly at the Xianzhou. Their golden eyes were like a lake shimmering beneath the setting sun, peaceful and gentle.
Jing Yuan knew this was not his dream.
It was the Reignbow Arbiter's dream.
