The Chances of a Happy Ending with Itachi

When I raised my eyes, I saw the cloak with the Akatsuki's signature black clouds on a red background. His ominous Sharingan looked down at me as if I were an insect.

I gazed at his pale, impassive face and suddenly remembered the last time we met before parting. Back then, I hadn't managed to say those words of confession. I used to think we had so much time, but in the end, all I heard was the terrible news that the person I secretly loved had massacred his clan and deserted the village.

Years later, my first love and I met again on the battlefield. Our reunion was the moment we crossed blades.

Ever since our days at the Ninja Academy, he had been hailed as a genius by everyone. I knew I was no match for him, and today I was destined to die by his hand.

But even so, I still wanted to tell him those words, years too late, with my own lips.

I swallowed the blood in my throat and tried to smile at him.
