Primitive Reconstruction (Farming)

A gentle woman with hidden depths, calm and self-possessed heroine? A rough, disabled, loyal-dog hero

Feng Wan, heir to a family of traditional Chinese medicine practitioners, goes up a mountain to gather herbs. She accidentally falls off a cliff, and when she opens her eyes again, she's a newly captured slave of the Zhoushan tribe, one of their winter food reserves. At any moment, she could be chopped up and tossed into a steaming stone pot...

The Zhoushan tribe is primitive and backward, short on food and clothing. It is the dead of winter, bitterly cold, and the whole tribe is facing an unprecedented struggle to survive.

In these circumstances, Feng Wan, their reserve food supply, is sure to be the first to die.

To stay alive, Feng Wan has to use every trick she can think of to win over the owner of the cave where she's staying: a filthy, disheveled, bearded cripple.

She hears he was once the tribe's youngest first-rank warrior.

Fortunately, the cripple is gloomy and lets her do whatever she wants. She digs up winter yams, fishes for man-eating fish, cultivates a small plot of land, makes tools, raises livestock, and gathers medicinal herbs.

Little by little, she fixes up the cave, transforming it from an empty, freezing place into a cozy, warm home.

The cripple is filthy, too. Feng Wan has always been a clean freak and can't stand it, so to repay him for taking her in, she reluctantly shaves his beard, washes his hair, and makes him clothes from animal hides and straw sandals. She even "accidentally" heals his leg.

The little cave changes with every passing day. Before long, the lowly slave and the cripple everyone despises are living better than the tribal chief's family, making the other tribespeople green with envy.

Then one day, everyone is shocked to discover that Heng, the former First Warrior whom the tribe had given up on, can stand again, and is even stronger than before!

He sheds his former appearance and becomes the tribe's bravest warrior once more.

The young women of the tribe gaze at the "spirited and strikingly handsome" Zhu Heng, their eyes shining!

But this time, the young and powerful warrior has eyes only for his little mate.

Feng Wan looks with satisfaction at all the things she's recently made in the cave and thinks, This isn't enough yet. Not nearly enough.

At the very least, she still needs to build a house!!!
