*Sorry, I changed the synopsis. Most importantly, I paired the doctor with someone. The original synopsis was too bare, and I had no inspiration, QAQ.
*I don't plan to crossover with anything else for now. Balancing the power levels of Detective Conan and Magic Kaito is already hard enough. At most, there might be a small crossover with some slice-of-life anime.
*A well-mannered bastard: a polite, elegant doctor in a suit, a gentlemanly brute who can smile as he cuts open an opponent's throat, then earnestly apologize to the startled kitten beside him.
*Pairing with Shuichi Akai. No other romantic interests.
*This is a heavily modified version of Please Don't Die: an invincible healer skill that can only be used after beating someone to the brink of death. To use it, kill the patient and wait for them to come back to life.
Doctor Watanabe of the Black Street is a mystery.
He is always impeccably polite, always measured in his actions, and always dressed with neat elegance. Even with a knife at his throat, he calmly insists that he always has a way out.
Before entering the operating room, his patients are fierce, injured brutes. When they leave, they are devout, healthy defenders of life.
"I don't remember what happened, but... I'm never going to see a doctor again!" That's what they all say in repentance.
Compared to his fickle patients, Doctor Watanabe is far more devoted. He never boasts about his excellent medical skills, but diligently saves countless people on the brink of death.
Unfortunately, none of his healed patients can remember much about the treatment. Even those who recall a few details keep them to themselves.
The Organization's [Some Undecided Liquor] is a mystery.
As a doctor, he has the widest network of acquaintances and the easiest working conditions. Everyone is happy to be on good terms with him, but no one wants to seek him out for a minor injury.
Some say he abuses anesthetics. Some say he uses his position to conduct terrifying experiments. Others say he's the interrogation room's most reliable last resort. The one rumor everyone agrees on is that this great doctor is exceptionally good at handling ICU patients.
Before long, his medical duties became far too easy. After a while, the doctor, in pursuit of a meaningful life, began to shine in other fields.
Interrogation, execution, and preparing the dead for burial.
His acquaintances in the interrogation room warmly welcomed him as a permanent member. Gin, after working nonstop for three days, tossed him a list titled "Troublemakers." The traitors were so terrified that they all went into hiding.
He hadn't dealt with many traitors yet, but more and more people were getting on his bad side. The claim that "no one hates Doctor Watanabe" had been disproved, yet he remained unruffled. Before long, people spoke vaguely about their former hatred, as if they had unknowingly fallen for the doctor's image of self-control and propriety.
The onlookers fell silent, secretly horrified: This doctor's talent for manipulating people's hearts is terrifying!
Years passed. The doctor moved among every member, always at the center of the Organization's disputes and gossip.
Then one day, the kidnapped Doctor Watanabe opened his eyes to find the area inside and outside his kidnapper's home packed with people.
A blond, mixed-race deliveryman rang the mansion's doorbell. A precocious grade-schooler politely asked where the tennis ball that had flown into the yard had gone. A sharp-toothed high schooler patted his "little brother" on the shoulder. Somewhere outside the window, a glint from a high vantage point signaled a sniper rifle.
Doctor Watanabe had deliberately put himself in danger, acted weak to lull the enemy, and tried to infiltrate their base by the simplest means, without telling anyone beforehand: ...
He managed a reserved, polite smile and asked the kidnapper in his most sincere voice, "I've got you surrounded. Want to try that again?"
The "kidnapper": ...
We agreed to be the most unconventional guys around. Why do you have so many people helping you?!
Watanabe, you have no heart!!!
*Pairing with Shuichi Akai. I originally planned to keep this no-pairing, but he's so handsome and powerful that I couldn't resist taking a bite. My tastes are simple and pure.
*The Shuichi and Akemi romance is more or less going to be erased by the butterfly effect. I'll settle on an outline when I start posting. If anything changes, I might erase the romance entirely.
*The protagonist is a transmigrator, but he only knows a tiny bit about the plot. His identity is more or less the same as before transmigrating, and of course he's fundamentally on the good side. Well-mannered on the surface, a bastard underneath; looks like a gentleman in suits and uniforms, but is actually a brute. He's so good at handling difficult patients that it's practically spilling out of him. He's exactly what I dream of :)
*Fighting in a lab coat is inconvenient and a hassle. Good kids, don't try this at home ovo
*This isn't a story where everyone constantly misunderstands things as "You killed him, so I'll get revenge." It's also not a harem where everyone dotes on the protagonist. But their camaraderie and their bickering friendships are rock-solid. Please remember while reading: Give a man three drinks, and he'll act so well you'll cry.
*The liquor names in the Organization may be expanded on. That depends mainly on how many liquor names I can come up with.
*Detective Conan and Magic Kaito. The magical world on Akako Koizumi's side is retained, and Please Don't Die is simply classified as magic.
*Everyone gets saved. After all, happy fanfiction wouldn't be complete without it. Anyone who died too early, within the last seven years, will have their death reversed later through supernatural powers or a cheat ability. Yes, I'm specifically talking about that guy who made his childhood friend wear mourning clothes for four years. You're really hard to save.
Theme: Please, Don't Die. Be polite~
