Anti-Fans Are Fans Too, Even a Funeral Wreath Has Flowers [E-Sports]

[Updates according to the ranking when I’m feeling well. Synopsis being revised ↓]

Lu Leyu is reborn in the body of a DG substitute player who was on his way to an esports arena when he was hit by a car. The “God One Round, Devil the Next” System tells him that if he can’t reach 10,000 followers within three hours, it will take his life back.

The doctors have just lifted him onto a stretcher when they see the boy in a team jersey scrambling and crying, “I have to play!”

Nobody has any faith in DG, whose starting player is injured and replaced by a substitute.

Until DG-LY connects, lands four consecutive sniper shots, every one a headshot, and shuts out the veteran team XH 2:0

That day, everyone is talking about

WTF, who is DG-LY?!

After getting past the brush with death, Lu Leyu starts to worry.

This “God One Round, Devil the Next” golden finger is so useless! It can only change his condition in the most literal sense.

And that’s not all. After a “God” round, he has to play a “Devil” round!

He isn’t afraid of getting flamed, but if he can’t win, no one will follow him. Wouldn’t that mean he really is going to die?

Lu Leyu nervously plays a few matches. As he watches his follower count’s growth slow down and frets, he discovers that he’s trending on Bilibili Pa La Pa La

Lu Leyu: ...As long as I stay alive, that’s fine. Go ahead and flame me. (Pathetic)

Later, people often talk about that indescribable esports career of his.

After the car accident, he lands headshot after headshot in the team’s do-or-die match, with luck on his side; he makes team history by taking them to the playoffs; he makes such an absurd blunder at a crucial moment that people suspect match-fixing; his dazzling performance makes the audience change their tune; with his irresistible charm, he wins over a crowd of friends and foreign players; only after his haters attack him does anyone discover that half his income goes to charity; he leads the team to the world championship and somehow takes the title...

The most famous moment is still a certain interview:

Host: I hear that some extremists sent you a funeral wreath last month. What do you think about that?

After a long silence, Lu Leyu says, “Haters are still fans, and a wreath still has flowers. Thank you all for your support...”

The whole internet erupts!

[Literary version]

Lu Leyu has always felt that he doesn’t understand esports.

An outsider, he is pulled onto this dazzling stage by his will to survive. When guilt comes with trust, when tears leave him confused, when defeat hurts, he always wonders:

Does he really deserve this honor? Does he deserve all these eyes on him? Does he deserve all this love?

But when he finally understands everything, he realizes that from the very beginning, he has been running toward the sun.

After the tears, I become glory.
