By a twist of fate, Miyu Kawamae's parents took her to watch a junior tennis tournament in America. There, she fell in love at first sight with a cocky boy her age.
After that, she never missed a match whenever Ryoma Echizen was playing. Whenever he left the court, she would bravely go up to him and try to strike up a conversation.
Just as Echizen won his fourth consecutive JR. tournament title, she finally got her first autograph from him, only to hear that the boy was going back to Japan.
Miyu was down for quite a while, thinking her first love would end without ever going anywhere.
By a stroke of luck, a month later her father's work assignment changed, and her family had to move back to Japan. Miyu transferred to a school near their new home.
Less than three days after transferring, before she had even started looking up information on the boy she couldn't get out of her mind, she made a shocking discovery: oh my god, Echizen went to the same school as her!
Miyu was over the moon. She believed in love all over again!
She thought that when a girl pursues a guy, all she needs to do is pierce a thin veil. But no matter how hard Miyu tried, she couldn't get that tennis-obsessed boy to catch on.
Miyu persevered, losing again and again, only to get back up and try again.
One day, the childhood friend who had been pestering her to play volleyball ever since he heard she was back in Japan dragged her to watch one of his matches.
When she got back, Echizen, his face cold, blocked her into a corner. The boy lowered the brim of his cap and pressed his lips together. "You don't like tennis... or me anymore?"
Miyu flusteredly waved her hands. "Well... The childhood friend over there is a kitty, and this one's a kitty too... Damn it, what am I hesitating for?! Of course I'm picking the one with dark green hair!"
