Playing with Plum Blossoms by the Bed

Meng Luozhu grew up alongside the two Liang brothers. Before she knew it, the two of them had become the most talked-about young men in the capital.

Their reputations, however, were worlds apart.

The elder brother, Liang Huaisheng, was an upright gentleman, refined and dignified, courteous and proper. He was the moonlight in the hearts of countless young ladies.

The younger brother, Liang Huaici, was the complete opposite. A regular at teahouses and gambling dens, he was moody, willful, and vindictive. Yet he was deeply favored by the emperor, so countless people hated him but had no choice but to flatter and respect him.

Like everyone else, Meng Luozhu liked Liang Huaisheng, who was always gentle with her, and hated Liang Huaici, with whom she fought like cats and dogs.

Then she was poisoned with a drug that took effect at regular intervals, and the only antidote was the very Liang Huaici who had rescued her.

She held out as long as she could, but in the end, she couldn't withstand the drug's effects. Grabbing the young man's sleeve, she pleaded in a breathless, feeble voice, "Help me..."

Under the candlelight, the young man suddenly smiled. His deep eyes swept over her without a care.

For a moment, Meng Luozhu was dazed. She suddenly thought that Liang Huaici might not be so bad after all.

But the next moment, he pushed her into cold water.

Liang Huaici said without expression, "Don't think you can take advantage of me."

In the end, though Liang Huaici had said he didn't want anyone taking advantage of him, he still bent down and lifted her into his arms. His dark eyes held emotions she couldn't understand.

"You're the one who said we should begin this time."
