The thing Pei Tingyan regrets most in his life is giving in to his parents and being forced to study abroad during high school.

As a result, all he could do was watch helplessly as Wen Yin, whom he'd quietly loved for years, married someone else.

Two years later,

while attending Wen Yin's funeral, he receives a diary belonging to a young woman.

The first page reads:

September 11, 2018

That was the first time I touched Pei Tingyan's hand.

Just as I'd imagined countless times, it was dry, broad, and strong, able to easily brush away every dark storm cloud over my head.

His presence was like a burst of fireworks powerful enough to break through a barren mountain, brilliantly lighting up my muddy, wretched life for just a fleeting moment.

If you can, please save me.

Later, one quiet afternoon,

Pei Tingyan sits in the corner by the classroom window, wearing his school uniform.

At the end of that diary entry, he writes:

September 11, 2018

Don't be afraid. Pei Tingyan is here to save you.

[Wen Yin, run forward.]

[The barren mountains stretch endlessly, but the fireworks charge ahead without hesitation.]
