[First-person blurb; I haven't figured out the actual story yet. I'll have to see how it feels]
I got together with him because I had "killed someone" back then.
He seemed to appear out of nowhere and took care of everything for me.
With nowhere else to turn, I was forced to become his secret lover.
One year, two years, three years.
He never introduced me to anyone, never told me what our future would be, and never let me leave his side.
I knew he had everything about me in his grasp, but I still fell madly in love with him.
But in the end, he was going to marry a woman from a family of equal standing. I didn't want to be the other woman hidden in the shadows. When I finally worked up the courage to leave, he brought out the evidence that I'd once killed someone and threatened that if I dared leave him, he'd make sure the whole thing came to light.
With nowhere else to turn, I saw "her."
Beautiful, elegant, wealthy...
She was celebrating her twentieth birthday, surrounded by all the love and happiness in the world.
I knew she was his "younger sister."
He doted on her, cherished her, and held her in the palm of his hand.
I watched as that girl picked through all the gifts, then climbed into that luxurious car and drove away in front of me.
And I could only wait like a rat in a gutter until she was gone, then quietly pick up the gift she'd thrown into the trash.
It was a box of mysterious wish-granting willow twigs. They said that if you snapped one, any wish would come true within twenty-four hours.
Trembling, I held the withered black willow twig.
As I snapped it, I secretly made a wish: "Please let me become the happy girl I just saw! I'll give anything... I never want to be hurt again. I want everyone to fall in love with me... especially him."
The next day, a strange couple stepped out of that car and took me away from the slums where I lived.
They said I was their daughter. I'd been kidnapped and traumatized, and lost all my memories, which was why I'd been hiding in a place like that.
They brought me back to my luxurious, palace-like home. I put on clothes I'd never dared to touch when I was working odd jobs. I had a beautiful pony, and a sports car parked in the garage.
And the cruel, cold lover who'd abandoned me really did become my "older brother."
He was completely different from the man he'd been when we were together.
He treated me too well, doting on me far too much.
It was as if, in his heart, there was only his "younger sister," and not the "lover" he'd once driven to the end of her rope.
Though I felt uneasy, I put what had happened between us out of my mind and greedily enjoyed this happiness that wasn't mine.
My wish had come true.
Exactly as I'd asked.
I became his younger sister.
From then on, no one could hurt me again.
Because he could never touch me again.
But I forgot one thing.
The price of the wish-granting twig was far more brutal than I'd imagined.
My brother... no, my former lover.
The longer I stayed home, the stranger the way he looked at me became.
One evening, I came home and saw him yelling at someone on the phone. "How could she just disappear? Keep looking!"
Then he looked at me and sneered.
"I have a feeling she's hiding right beside me."
"Don't let me catch her..."
"Or I'll make her wish she were dead. Just like the person I once killed for her."
Cold-blooded, wicked Tianlongren politician vs. adored, delicate wife, a dependent vine
Warnings:
A melodramatic, adored-by-everyone story. At first, everyone humiliates and pursues the heroine: they look down on her while falling madly in love with her. They're all lunatic Tianlongren.
There is a male lead, but every character who appears falls in love with the heroine at first sight. At the beginning, the heroine is a lovesick, devoted wife who likes the male lead very, very much.
The heroine is a true dependent vine, a little like a stray cat with a serious illness that can't survive without relying on someone else. She is a very classic weak, delicate wife: exceptionally beautiful and in poor health, with one deaf ear. There is a male lead, but that doesn't stop everyone from loving the heroine. There is pseudo-incest. The men are extremely powerful, the woman extremely weak. This is not a strong female-lead story.
The heroine is not a virgin, the male lead is. It has a somewhat dark, suspenseful feel. The wish-granting part was inspired by the film Obsession.
An alternate setting. The heroine did not steal everything from the real younger sister; it's a suspenseful setup.

Theme: The wish-granting twig can be used to make one wish in a lifetime, but its effect is permanent.
