Weird Tales? Something is Wrong with this “Group Pet” Novel

Su Ximu considers himself an utterly ordinary male college student. One day, he wakes up to find that he has transmigrated into a cozy novel about a beloved darling that he once happened to read, and, unbelievably, he has become the main character.

In the novel, he has three older brothers who adore him, friendly neighbors, and perfect grades and relationships with his classmates.

After a brief internal struggle, Su Ximu is ready to lie flat as the darling of the family. But he soon realizes things aren't quite as simple as he thought.

Then one day, he finds a slip of paper with a set of rules at home.

[1: Big Brother is very strict. When he's home, you need to come back early.

2: Second Brother has a good temper and can be trusted. When you go out to have fun, you can ask him to come along.

3: Third Brother doesn't like being disturbed while he's working.

4: When Big Brother is angry, you can hide at Grandpa Niu's house next door.

5: ...]

Su Ximu's hand shakes as he grips the paper. He suddenly remembers the rule-based horror stories that were all over the internet before he transmigrated into the book.

So he isn't the main character of a cozy family-love story at all. He's just a minor character trembling under the thumb of the various horror-story bosses.

He doesn't even get his own set of rules!

Six months later

The horror-story world officially invades reality, forcing countless ordinary people into its domain.

Su, the little cannon-fodder, Ximu gently pats the heads of his three college roommates in front of him and sweeps a hand out with confidence. “Boys, all of this is the empire your dad conquered for you!”

[Instance: Su Corporation Tower

Instance rank: SSS, extreme danger, entry forbidden without invitation

Anomaly: Su Xuanxiao

Note: This anomaly is obsessed with starting companies. His instances seem to be scattered throughout the horror-story world!]

[Instance: The Haunted Film Set

Instance rank: SSS, extreme danger, entry forbidden without invitation

Anomaly: Su Xuzi

Note: The owner of this instance is brutally violent. If you absolutely have to choose between Su Corporation Tower and The Haunted Film Set, take my advice and choose Su Corporation Tower.]

[Instance: Rural Village Tour Group

Instance rank: SS+, extreme danger

Anomaly: Su Jianglou

Note: The danger level of this instance drops when a summer worker named Su Ximu appears.

Take my advice: once this summer worker shows up in the instance, never choose the Su Corporation Tower or The Haunted Film Set instances again. The danger level shoots straight past SSS+!]

Author's note: This novel includes elements of rule-based horror, but it doesn't focus on horror instances or puzzle-solving. Given the author's limited brainpower, there may be some bugs.

If I had to categorize it, I'd call it a cozy, beloved-darling slice-of-life story in a world of horror anomalies?

Also known as: The Everyday Life of Su Ximu in the Horror World and My Years Passing Through Instances All Over the World

Another note: The pairing is Su Xuzi. The top and bottom aren't blood relatives and aren't on the same household register. The anomaly world doesn't have household registers.

Here's an upcoming novel. If you're interested, feel free to add it to your collection from the author's page!

Superstar of the Horror World

Blurb: This is a world with an exceptionally thriving entertainment industry. Every top-tier star in showbiz has hundreds of millions of fans, and their every appearance inspires deafening cheers. Flashing camera lights turn night into day.

But none of that has anything to do with Lu Yu, because he's just a nobody on the fringes of showbiz.

Since making his debut on a talent show, he hasn't managed to break half a million followers on social media. His most prominent role was as a minor underling of the second male lead, the kind who charges into a fight when the second male lead gives the order.

The only time he was given a leading role was when a young actor at his company rejected the script as too stupid. Lu Yu was hastily pushed into the part of a domineering CEO in a groveling romance drama, a man who opens his eyes and immediately starts choking someone, and who demands the female lead's kidney one day and her heart the next.

After the show aired, the character was so stupid and his acting so stiff that more than ten thousand fans unfollowed him.

Lu Yu thought he would remain a nobody forever, just waiting for his contract to expire before deciding what to do next.

Then one day, at a major industry awards ceremony, a newly crowned Best Actor was standing onstage accepting an award when he briefly fainted. After coming to, he suddenly charged toward Lu Yu like a madman, eyes bloodshot and breath ragged, clinging to his hand and trembling as he begged for an autograph.

The top-tier starlet who had fainted along with the Best Actor rushed over, too.

Just as frantic, she ran up to him without a second thought and firmly declared herself a fan, asking him to give her acting lessons.

Lu Yu: “Uh... What is this, some kind of triumphant comeback and face-slapping story? I wouldn't even dare dream this up!”

Later, a group of mysterious people sealed off the entire venue, and everyone present was made to sign a nondisclosure agreement. Only then did Lu Yu learn that this wasn't a fantasy story coming to life. The horror world was invading reality!

And the reason the newly crowned Best Actor and the top-tier starlet were so desperate for his autograph and wanted to be his fans was that he, Lu Yu, might be a complete unknown in the real-world entertainment industry, but in the horror world, he was an undisputed superstar!

The kind whose on-screen roles make male and female ghosts sob and beg to give him every last one of their hearts, livers, spleens, lungs, and kidneys.

Later, after signing the nondisclosure agreement and returning home, Lu Yu finds a beautiful card on his bedside table. Written on it in twisted letters are the words: [I will bring the world born from consuming my flesh and blood, and together we will love you.]

The card is signed: [&*##@#]

It's a string of gibberish, and also his very first fan: a deranged stalker who writes bloody love letters to him and sneaks into his home to steal things.

There's a terrifying legend in the horror world. One day, you might suddenly run into a powerful Calamity-level anomaly who generously shares every work by his beautiful superstar wife.

If you can't appreciate those works, can't come up with even one insightful review, or have never even heard of this beautiful anomaly's superstar wife, then congratulations.

Boom! You're dead.

Because he thinks you have no taste.

But if you're also passionately devoted to this beautiful superstar, know every work and every line, can even empathize with his profound acting, and offer a spot-on review or two, then congratulations.

Boom! You're dead, too.

Because this Calamity-level anomaly can't allow anyone in the world to understand his beautiful wife better than he does.

Your talent as a fan makes him jealous.
