Nineteen is great. You can date an eighteen-year-old or a thirty-two-year-old.
1.
Xu Yueling transmigrates into an old-school campus novel as the female side character who follows the male lead, Zhou Rong, around like a lovesick puppy.
The cold, merciless plot controls her. Unable to change anything, she can only despair as she heads toward the ending where her family abandons her and she dies at the bottom of the sea.
That day, as usual, Zhou Rong’s admirers and enemies drag her into a dark alley and beat her up. They kick and punch her, then laugh as they leave after satisfying their sadistic urges.
After enduring this torment day after day, Xu Yueling is finally overwhelmed by pain. Bruised from head to toe, she lies silently in the mud, almost ready to end her life.
Then she sees a pair of leather shoes: sharp pointed toes, gleaming jet-black leather without a speck of mud, their tips reflecting a cool, elegant light.
That day, the expensive shoes stop in front of her battered, miserable self.
“You...”
The man’s voice is rich and warm as he gently asks, “Do you need help?”
Only later does she learn that the man is called Zhou Youxing. He is the head of the Zhou family, a top-tier wealthy clan, refined and rich, mentioned only in passing in the book and seen briefly at the protagonists’ wedding in the final chapter.
He is also the father of the male lead, Zhou Rong.
2.
After more than a decade of power struggles within the Zhou family, Zhou Youxing fights his way through the chaos and ends the turmoil with an iron fist.
The new head of the family rarely appears in public. Rumor has it he is handsome and gentle, has never had a lover or partner by his side, and has only one adopted son. Even now, he remains a mysterious figure among the country’s wealthy families.
Even Zhou Youxing himself thinks he is an asexual man unmoved by love between men and women.
That is, until his thirty-second birthday. On his first day back in the country, he personally goes to pick up his son from school. A casual glance through a crack in the car window...
He sees a girl lying in an alley.
She is utterly disheveled. Her wrinkled white shirt has ridden up, revealing a stretch of soft, pale waist smeared with mud. Tears fall silently from her eyes as she stares motionless at the sky, like a bird on the verge of death.
Zhou Youxing sits in the car, staring without blinking at the girl whose face he cannot even see. He doesn’t know how long he watches her.
Only when the blare of a car horn yanks him back to his senses does he come to, get out, and stride over to her. For the first time in his life, he nervously strikes up a conversation: “Do you need help?”
Before he can get the girl into the car, his tardy adopted son, Zhou Rong, happens to see the scene and speaks to her harshly. “Xu Yueling, you were my girlfriend for just three months. Are you already in a hurry to come home with me?”
Zhou Youxing experiences his first crush, only to learn less than ten minutes later that she is his son’s girlfriend.
3.
One midsummer day, the male lead, Zhou Rong, asks Xu Yueling to meet him at a cafe. The eighteen-year-old boy turns away shyly for once and stammers, “...If you really like me that much, I guess I could give us a try...”
Unfortunately, Xu Yueling’s phone buzzes at the worst possible moment, displaying a new message.
The person interrupting his awkward confession is none other than his father, Zhou Youxing.
Uncle Zhou: “You left something at my place last time. Do you want to come pick it up?”
Uncle Zhou: [Image]
She taps the photo without thinking, then hurriedly blacks out her screen the very next second.
Zhou Rong looks at her in confusion. Xu Yueling shakes her head, trying to cover it up, and grips her phone tightly. Her ears turn bright red as the image she glimpsed keeps flashing through her mind.
The photo shows something simple: the girl’s dark coat draped over the back of a chair in the study. But beneath it, a small corner of a thin piece of white fabric peeks out suggestively, trimmed with soft lace.
It is the underwear she left in Zhou Youxing’s study two days ago.
Note:
1. One-on-one romance, both leads’ first sexual partners, happy ending.
2. The male lead and the second male lead are adoptive father and son. When the female lead develops feelings for the male lead, she has no actual relationship with the second male lead.
3. Contains a long-simmering romance finally catching fire, a privileged and brilliant man falling from his pedestal at first sight of an ordinary girl, classic campus-novel tropes, and other clichéd, melodramatic plotlines.
4. The blurb may be revised at any time. Screenshot taken on April 29, 2023.
Theme: Love is useless, but even when it’s useless, we love.
Teacher, when will this book be updated? This setting is really special. I really want to read this book.
