Playboy heir Qi Lushang was parachuted in to take charge of a branch office. His smiling eyes crinkled at everyone, and he spoke gently, yet he was the only one who glared at an employee in the design department and seemed to find fault with everything she did.

Everyone guessed it was probably because Lin Ruolian was nothing special to look at, and he simply didn't like her.

Everyone knew that the new CEO, who was popular with women, was a complete looks-obsessed snob.

That is, until after a company dinner, a colleague saw Lin Ruolian, drunk in an alley, being helped into a car by the CEO, who had hurried over with a displeased look on his face.

Through the half-open car window, they could just make out Lin Ruolian held in the arms of the tall man. He lowered his head and kissed her forehead, his expression utterly tender.

But the design department had long known that Lin Ruolian had a boyfriend she was close to, and they were getting married at the end of the year.

Lin Ruolian knew the new CEO couldn't stand her. Her plain looks were one thing, but other than Qi Lushang once finding her journal, she couldn't remember ever doing anything to offend him.

Though she felt wronged, she was a lowly wage worker who valued her job. She made herself as inconspicuous as possible, and whenever she saw Qi Lushang, she found an excuse to escape before she could get on his bad side.

Yet, for some reason, her previously reliable match disappeared without a trace, the new home they were supposed to move into wasn't ready, and her father was diagnosed with a serious illness overnight. The life she'd planned was cruelly crushed to pieces. She was overwhelmed and couldn't sleep night after night.

Qi Lushang happened to be passing by to pick up some test results when he saw her crouched outside the hospital, crying in despair. He handed her a tissue and helped her through that difficult period.

A long time later, Qi Lushang confessed his feelings and became Lin Ruolian's boyfriend. He officially moved in with her, and one day she unexpectedly found his diary. The password was her birthday.
