[Fantasy + Western fantasy, everyday-life episodic story]
Zhang Yufei is an ordinary human cultivator and a disciple of Mingyang Temple. He once attended a magic university as an exchange student. Since he knows a fair amount about Western magic, after graduating he joined the Demon Race's Department of Foreign Affairs.
Following the principle that nonhuman affairs should be handled by nonhumans, the Demon Race established the Department of Foreign Affairs to oversee the entry of Western nonhumans.
One day after Zhang started work, the department head, Ying Gou, leaned against a bench and said between coughs, "Little Yufei, work hard. You'll take over my position one day."
"Then what about you, Department Head?" Zhang Yufei had barely arrived before being handed a pie in the sky, and he didn't want to eat it.
"Me?" A glint flashed in the sickly young man's eyes. "I'll go be the director of the Oversight Bureau."
The Demon Race's Oversight Bureau governed the entire race. The department head had grand ambitions, but Zhang did not.
An elderly yellow weasel walked along with a cane, complaining, "My little grandson wanted to learn how to ask someone to bestow a title, just like the elders in our family. But he hasn't cultivated enough, and didn't realize that foreigner wasn't human at all."
"Zhang, I never thought I'd see you today. I've already prepared a gift for you," said the increasingly elegant young vampire, lifting a gleaming golden weasel. "It's getting cold, so it'll make a nice pair of leather gloves."
Zhang Yufei secretly breathed a sigh of relief. The weasel was still alive.
At a conference for exchanges between Chinese and Western nonhuman organizations, Zhang Yufei attended on behalf of the Department of Foreign Affairs.
"Well, has the Demon Race run out of people? They sent a human to the conference."
The instant the sneering voice rang out, a tall young dragon stepped in front of Zhang Yufei. "Zhang is the only human our dragon race recognizes. Anyone who dares bully him is picking a fight with all of us."
As the Department of Foreign Affairs' only human employee, Zhang Yufei was closest to the office mascot.
"Xiaoxiao, you and I are the weakest in the whole department," the human cultivator said with a sigh after a long day. "Why did I ever come to work here?"
The black-and-white ball turned into a languid-looking youth and said indignantly, "I'm the mascot, sure, but I'm a bona fide great demon. I've got plenty of power."
Zhang Yufei: "!!!"
"You pretended to be an untransformed little demon and tricked me into looking after you!"
Little Scene One:
A demon enthusiastically described how wonderful his circus was and how much joy it brought the audience.
Zhang Yufei watched the demon lie through his teeth with a cool gaze, then asked, "Mr. Clown, do you know Erda?"
"I do. We're the same kind."
"Good. Remember this: I was the one who sent Erda to prison."
Little Scene Two:
A swordsman from the West announced that he wanted to challenge the greatest sword cultivator in Shanhai City.
By chance, Zhang Yufei was passing by when the swordsman stopped him.
"This longsword has a high-level attack restriction carved into it. I paid thirty million pounds for it. One strike can destroy your weapon."
Zhang Yufei took a Western-style longsword he'd received two years earlier from his Qiankun bag. "Let's find out."
After one move, the swordsman looked at the broken sword in his hand, so heartbroken he was nearly in tears. "What kind of sword is that?"
"Just an ordinary longsword that sold for 130 million pounds at auction."
Zhang Yufei followed the principle of fighting when he could win and calling for help when he couldn't. By the end of the year, he'd earned the Best Employee bonus.
P.S. There are lots of made-up details. The protagonist isn't an invincible dragon hero, and the plot is episodic and mostly slice-of-life.
Planned episodes: circus, travel agency, general store...
My completed novel, The Exchange Student at Magic School, is on my author page. This is the study-abroad arc.
This world favors humans. When humans need gods, the world allows them to appear. When humans no longer need gods, the world shuts them out.
Zhang Yufei is an heir to an ancient Eastern cultivation sect.
He goes to London as an exchange student for a year.
But the Association of Wizards, unable to tell the difference between a cultivator's lineage and a wizard's bloodline, requires him to attend a magic university.
But at his core, he is still just an ordinary human.
The school is great.
His classmates are friendly, too.
It's just that a lot of them act a little strange around him.
The vampires covet his blood.
"Hey, you smell so good. Can I have a little bite?"
"Hey, you're bleeding. I'll just lick it for you."
Zhang Yufei coolly takes out talismans and sticks a Peach Blossom Talisman on each classmate who's up to no good.
Go fall in love. Stop bothering him.
The dragons are always trying to take care of the fragile human.
"Human, want some fruit?"
"Human, here's a gemstone for you. You can have these clothes, too."
"Human, you'll get hurt doing that."
Zhang Yufei watches the large creatures fuss over him every day and carefully study a human-rearing manual. He kills a monster with one strike of his sword, making it clear he doesn't need them to spend a fortune raising him.
His wizard classmates are always trying to get themselves killed.
"Zhang, since summoning a god for divination keeps failing, why don't we try summoning a spirit with a pen?"
"Zhang, the Adventure Club found a new ruin. Want to come explore it?"
Little Scene One:
Not long after the semester began, in divination class,
The instructor was astonished by the Xuanmen art of divination and asked sincerely, "Zhang, can I learn your sect's divination methods?"
"Sure."
So the following week, Zhang Yufei learned from the dean of students that the divination instructor had quit, gone abroad, and traveled to Xuanmen to study under a master.
Forced to take over the class, Zhang Yufei said, "Today, I'll teach you how to summon a righteous god for divination."
But no one expected that after their attempts to summon a god failed, the students would choose to summon a spirit with a pen.
Little Scene Two:
During a practical class on dragon growth and health,
Zhang Yufei looked at the books his classmates were holding: How to Provide Emergency Care When a Human Is Accidentally Injured, How to Improve Human Safety Awareness, A Young Girl's Favorite: The Love Between a Human and a Dragon, and My Romantic Date with the Dragon Race: A Young Man's Heart-Stopping Moments.
What shop was selling dragons all these ridiculous books?
Other people's university lives are full of thrilling adventures.
Zhang Yufei's university life is about following the rules, avoiding unstable elements, and cracking down on illegal publications.
(These two lines are from a comment by reader gdhhdbdgvdn, posted in Chapter 30.)
Official blurb:
Thanks to his sect's legacy, Zhang Yufei unexpectedly ends up studying at a magic university.
While visiting the Beast Race for a sacrificial ceremony, he finds a crystal ball.
Through a series of coincidences, he embarks on a new adventure.
Western fantasy + magic + cultivation fantasy + The Classic of Mountains and Seas + more.
If you asked Zhang Yufei how he feels about studying at a magic university, he'd say the university is great and every day is full of magic.
Theme: Be responsible and work hard.
I am so happy to have received two treasures of praise and praise. I have been showing off in the author group for two days in a row. Other authors are envious of me.
I read two articles in two days! I really like the idea of combining Western fantasy and metaphysics. The interaction between different cultures is very interesting, and some places are particularly humorous. The ordinary daily articles are also written very naturally and comfortably, which I think is rare!
I think the author writes the collision of different elements very well, without hard fusion resulting in a different feeling. There are so many races in the story, and it can be seen that the author has done his homework to understand each setting.
The setting of the road to becoming a god being cut off is also particularly wonderful! In the end, I didn't write about whether the road to becoming a god has been opened. I also think the protagonist and roommate's choice of ascending to godhood is very, very good. It just feels hazy, just like the state of our lives, not all mysteries can be solved. Focusing on the present and cherishing everything you have seems to be the best solution in life.
The author has written many times that what the world prefers is that human beings really have a lot, which makes me think about how much we have gained. It would be a pity if we have not experienced the happiness obtained from even the most trivial things.
The two books were written at different times, and you can experience the protagonist's mental journey from a student (?) To a worker, hahaha. There are many sections in the story that allow you to understand what the leader is saying. OMG, as a workplace novice, I just want to say that you are all awesome, but I can't read a single sentence.
I love every character! There are kind and lovely roommates, classmates and teachers in school, and there are also kind and lovely colleagues in the workplace. In the process, there are also seniors, uncles and seniors who take care of the younger generation. But the one who impressed me the most was the Son. I have read it elsewhere before, but even so, every time I read "God Doesn't Care", I feel my heart shake...
Thank you to the author for his careful output, which gave me a very pleasant reading experience^^ I was lucky enough to observe a small part of the protagonist's life journey. I hope everyone can have a smooth and happy life!
So the rice wine master uncle could have reached adulthood, but Mingyang Guan was too poor and couldn't get enough spiritual stones, so he never reached adulthood, right? It's so miserable
Huangjiu woke up: Where is my bed? What about a bed as big as mine?
It's like this. It's very difficult to start something from scratch, but it's much easier if you have a template (●'?'●)
The beast tribe has no rules at all. It's a pity that the beast-eared cat girl just messes with other people's things.
Thanks for the output, finish spreading flowersヾ(??▽?)ノ
My wife's Western fantasy book is really cute and interesting, and the final answer to the story is great. Congratulations to our Yu Fei for having a happy life with friends, a daughter, and a family (and a job). I really like my wife's world view setting. The combination of western fantasy and fantasy really creates the effect of 1+1>2. The characters and stories are very logical and interesting. It feels like reading a long novel. I hope that my wife will get better as she writes, and the data will get better and better!
Come on!
Why aren't zombies a kind of corpse? It's up to the minister again.
Claw, as expected, the creatures in the West are very good at killing themselves.
"Hu" is a big thorn in the side of the author~
