Xuan Yi had been frail and sickly since childhood. By chance, she became bound to a transmigration-into-a-book System. As long as she played the villainous master who tormented the heroine in a cultivation novel, her illness would be cured and she would become healthy.
In the original story, the heroine, Yi Chengfeng, admired and idolized the original host. After enduring countless hardships, she finally became a disciple of the original host on Heavenly Realm Mountain. Even when the original host treated her coldly, she was still happy. But the heroine didn't know that the only reason the original host took her as a disciple was to get the innate spiritual bone inside her.
At her first sect tournament after becoming a disciple, the heroine took first place. Full of joy, she went to find her master, only to have the spiritual bone she had been born with ripped out by the very master she had always revered. She was left a cripple, her path to immortality forever cut off.
Only after becoming a cripple did the heroine finally see what kind of person her master was. She tried to seek justice from the sect, but her master turned the accusations against her, claiming she had slandered her master and committed the grave sin of betraying her teacher. She was expelled from the sect and left to fend for herself.
Consumed by hatred, the heroine was overcome by demonic influence and fell into the Ink Abyss. Years later, she returned to Heavenly Realm Mountain and skinned and dismembered her master, finally satisfying her hatred.
Xuan Yi, reading this far: ...I'm out.
There was no escaping, so she had to raise the heroine properly. But somehow, things started to go off track.
When the time came to remove the spiritual bone, Xuan Yi looked at the radiant heroine and personally placed a crown upon her head. In the end, she couldn't bring herself to take the heroine's spiritual bone. She let her time run out and her soul perish.
Seeing her master die, the heroine fell apart and awakened memories of her previous life. She dug out her own spiritual bone and gave it to Xuan Yi, then sank into the Ink Abyss and became a demon, just as she had in her previous life.
But this time, her master didn't come back to life properly. Instead, she fell into a deep, unending sleep.
Meanwhile, Xuan Yi had returned to the modern world and could finally live a healthy life. Standing in a spacious apartment in the city center, she would sometimes remember the past, until one day she woke up to find herself dragged back to the world of cultivation.
After waking up, Xuan Yi stared at the gold chain around her wrist, lost in thought.
Looking at the heroine, now even more deranged than in the original story: ...How did things end up like this?
Yi Chengfeng held her master close on the ice bed. "Your spiritual bone belongs to you, and you belong to me. We'll never be apart again."
Reader's guide:
1. This is my take on cultivation, with a mountain of original worldbuilding.
2. The disciple really will turn dark, and there will be confinement scenes.
3. I love melodrama, and melodrama loves me. Send me a heart!
