This Background Beta Doesn't Want to Be Everyone's Darling

Lin Yu is an ordinary beta: a hardworking but ineffective corporate drone, with no sexual tension and absolutely no social awareness.

As a child, he wrote in an essay: "I'm a beta, my parents are betas, and someday I'll marry a beta wife and have a beta child. Our whole family will be betas, and we'll live out our beta lives in peace."

In short, he's a beta's beta.

Lin Yu thinks he lives in a world where the protagonist shou is a beloved heartthrob, tormented over and over by pheromones. Even the favored children of heaven are ruled by pheromones.

And this beta born to be a beta thinks a quiet, uneventful life is a blessing.

Until one day.

"...It's fate! The organization has decided: you're going to be an ordinary-guy heartthrob! All the Alphas and Omegas are going to fall in love with you! Beta!"

Lin Yu: ??? What does that mean?

"It means lots of men will fall in love with you!"

Fresh from work, Lin Yu falls silent, then quietly pulls out his belt and loops it over a beam.

"...What are you doing?"

Lin Yu puts his head through the loop and smiles. "I'm going to die."

What's the most effective way to get rid of a heartthrob aura?

Ruining your image?

No. Getting married.

Lin Yu immediately goes on a blind date. His date is breathtakingly beautiful, and most importantly

he's a pure beta.

They quickly elope and become a pair of betas.

One day, after getting drunk, his wife tilts her eyes upward, her breath fragrant and gentle, and her gaze narrowed, her presence overwhelming. She corners him, takes his hand and guides it over the gland on her neck, releasing her pheromones freely as she whispers in his ear: "Do you like it, darling...?"

Lin Yu shudders all over, unable to believe it:

"...Fuck, you're pretending to be a beta..."
