Wind Ginger

Feng Shuori wants to conquer the realm because everyone else is doing it, so he might as well join in.

Jiang Yan wants to conquer the realm because he wants to kill the emperor.

In the tenth year of Wan Jing, the two attack the capital from north and south.

The last emperor surrenders the city. Northern Feng and Southern Jiang rein in their horses, side by side.

Banners snap, horses whinny, and the wind howls. The two greatest generals of their age face each other.

They have a brief exchange.

Every historian of later generations wishes they could return to that moment and hear what they said.

People say Feng Shuori persuaded Jiang Yan to submit, and Jiang Yan agreed.

But in truth, Feng Shuori remembers clearly: Jiang Yan was the one who spoke first that day.

Jiang Yan: When did you find out I was a woman?

Feng Shuori: The first time we met.

Jiang Yan (frowning): I didn't even say a word to you then.

Feng Shuori: You forgot you stepped on my back to get down from the carriage?

Jiang Yan: So what?

Feng Shuori (grinning): You were light. With your height and build, you shouldn't have been that light. That's when I knew something was off.

Theme: None for now.
