An Imperfect Summer

*First Love for Both / Childhood Friends / Healing Story

1.

The first time Wen Jing saw Ji Yunyang, she was six years old.

He climbed up onto the wall and looked down at Wen Jing, who was watching him.

"Want to play together from now on?"

He held out his hand to Wen Jing and made a promise that they would be friends for life.

Later, they left the courtyard of their childhood and entered a world of towering buildings, going their separate ways.

Neither of them ever spoke of the other again.

2.

The second time she saw him was in their class after the high school classes were rearranged.

Hearing the name of the person behind her, Wen Jing stared in shock at Ji Yunyang, whom she hadn't seen in three years.

He softly called her name, then said, "Long time no see."

No one knew that, to Wen Jing back then, Ji Yunyang's words, "You should look like spring," had stayed with her for three whole years.

And now, after all that time, they had finally met again.

3.

That summer after the college entrance exams, a young woman held out the love letter she had painstakingly written, stroke by stroke, to the boy she loved.

She was cautious, yet brave.

No one knew that the boy had been the first to fall in love.

That summer, after a long journey, they finally reached the person they loved.

The boy gently kissed the girl, holding back his feelings.

"This is us, imperfect as we are, and an imperfect summer, yet it is our one-of-a-kind youth."
