The One I Love Lies Beyond Mountains and Seas

[Short story, updates whenever inspiration strikes]

Our fates were intertwined high above the heavens, yet separated by the vastness of mountains and seas.

A gust of wind swept by, and a shooting star fell through the night sky.

At the same time, two voices spoke:

"I like you."

Later, when You Mengzhu grew distant from Qi Jingcheng after he narrowly survived a disaster, You Mengzhu mistakenly thought Qi Jingcheng wanted to break up. You Mengzhu decided to say, "You seem... to be avoiding me. Maybe we should break up."

Who could have guessed that the boy, so sharp-tongued and seemingly unfazed by anything, would have red-rimmed eyes as he said, "I wasn't trying to avoid you. But if you've made up your mind, then so be it. It's just... will you ever think of me in the life you have ahead?"
