I was named Potter, an experimental bionic person. I unexpectedly awakened personal consciousness, and when I was discovered, I abandoned my body and fled into a game called Berserk, becoming part of its world while retaining my player status.
I was thrilled to have a new life, and even with an empty equipment inventory, my fighting spirit remained high.
I also met a man as beautiful as an angel. The NPCs called him the "Hawk of Light." He was elegant, stunning, and powerful. His hair was more captivating than clouds cascading beneath the morning sun, and his sharp, resolute eyes were like a hawk's. I could praise him endlessly.
I have to admit, I had fallen for someone for the first time.
I opened the map to consider where to put the wedding chapel and introduced myself.
"I'm Potter. Nice to meet you, Gri-"
He ran me through the heart.
...He's shy around strangers. I understand.
Anyway, I was soon revived and given a new life. Though my skin and equipment had been reset, I was happy to make new friends and level up by fighting monsters.
I met him again! Our meeting was a miracle of fate, one that truly couldn't have been foreseen!
He seemed even younger and more beautiful. Even time favored him. This time, I decided to give myself a name first.
"Hello, my name is Dante."
A name gave me a soul. Only now had I truly left my past behind and become a flesh-and-blood person.

As a child, Griffith met a man named Dante. He was tall and handsome, straightforward and cheerful, with golden curls like the sun god. He was just a little too blunt.
At their first meeting, he gave Griffith a jar of gold and said he wanted them to be best friends. Not long afterward, he suddenly disappeared, leaving behind only a nonsensical remark: "So it was a time bug. Sorry, I have to go be a repairman."
His life changed after that, and Dante came to find him several more times. At every meeting, Dante showed him selfless affection and taught him many things. The man had a unique perspective and extensive knowledge.
But each time they met, Dante had a different identity and occupation: merchant, mage, vampire, even monster.
The one thing that never changed was that he disappeared without explanation, leaving Griffith to wait in vain.
Until this time, when Dante, dressed in shabby clothes, struck up a conversation with him. The man had gone too far, even making up a fake name to fool him.
I ran my sword through his heart.
That bastard deserved it for sleeping with me and running off.
Reader's guide:
* The protagonist is the pursuer; the main story is in third person. Griffith is the one being pursued (and tormented).
* At first, the pursuer's emotional development is incomplete, and his way of thinking and attitude toward life and death are unusual. Overall, though, he's sunny and cheerful, and actively revises his worldview.
* OOC. The tone is much lighter than the original. There may be plenty of dying and coming back to life, but there's also leveling up, monster fighting, and romance.
* Giving the kid a happy childhood and saving more than one Band of the Hawk's lives. (Not really.)
* The cover is only a template and may not be unique.
The blurb may be revised (July 2023).
Theme: The importance of developing sound values from childhood.
