Magical Girl, but in the Wrong Era

After the college entrance exams ended, I was stopped on the street for an interview: "If you don't get into college, would you consider taking a job?"

I was a little annoyed, but with the camera pointed at me, I could only joke around using a popular meme: "If I don't get in, I'll have to go work in another world as the Demon Lord."

Then they asked, "If you could choose your coworkers, who would you want to work with?"

I put on a fake smile. "It doesn't matter who they are. What's important is that I hope they went to a 985 or 211 university."

I thought my sarcasm was obvious, but they immediately promised to give me people from 985 and 211 universities.

Me: ???

And then I got transported to another world.

I was given a combat suit and a pair of magic pistols.

They explained that, because of my gender, they hadn't given me a Demon Lord outfit. Instead, they'd chosen the standard magical-girl look, which was a better fit for me.

I could understand that. Honestly, I'd dreamed of being a magical girl, too.

...But Japanese-style magical girls stick out like a sore thumb in a world of tokusatsu heroes, martial arts, Strange Tales from a Chinese Studio, and mythology. They make a natural target. And with those infuriating long transformation sequences and catchphrases... Ask yourselves honestly, are you really not trying to get me killed!?

In the end, I'm the only one whose style doesn't fit in!?

[Note: The magic pistols can switch between gun and human forms. The weapon design was inspired by Soul Eater.]

1. The author is a longtime anime and manga fan, and so is the heroine, which gives this story a distinctive, unconventional style.

2. Since the style is already so unconventional... it's only natural that this isn't like mainstream quick transmigration martial arts stories, right?

3. There are some personal headcanons, but this is just for fun. If it's not your thing, please stop reading. Thanks for your support.
