Mr. Chen and I Live in the Mountains

Xu Nianzhi often heard Lin Mian talk about her older brother, who lived as a recluse in the mountains.

His name was Chen Liuqing.

According to Lin Mian, he was like the clear autumn sky and bright moon, someone who seemed too otherworldly to exist.

After becoming a writer, Xu Nianzhi also began to dream of living alone in the mountains.

Lin Mian thought it was too dangerous for a woman to live there by herself, so she arranged for Xu Nianzhi to build a house next to Chen Liuqing's.

They met on a rainy day.

A man holding a teal umbrella appeared in her view.

From then on, the words "Mr. Chen" became a regular feature in her writing:

Mr. Chen's home is beautiful;

Mr. Chen made dinner for me;

Mr. Chen took me for a walk in the woods;

Mr. Chen and I watched fireflies beneath the starry sky for a long time;

Mr. Chen and I did nothing today. We just sat quietly together and listened to the wind sing;

Mr. Chen...

Mr. Chen has a cool, distant air about him, but I often feel warm when I'm by his side.

P.S. A heartwarming, healing story, with lots of fun things in the mountains and forests, and beautiful plants and little animals.
