The 1970s: The Pretty Supporting Female Lead Has It Good

Cheng Xi finds herself inside a period novel, reborn as the female lead's foil: a supporting female character.

The supporting character has a pretty face but no brains. She competes with the female lead over everything, from jobs to men, and fails every time, becoming a laughingstock.

Cheng Xi looks at the male lead, the one making two women fight over him, and is baffled. What's there to fight over? Isn't making money much better?

In the seventies, not going into business would make her trip here a waste.

In her previous life, Cheng Xi was a celebrated chef in Shanghai. She rubs her hands together, ready to make it big in the food business.

But as she gets to work, she realizes that the male educated youth from her village seems to have more than friendly feelings for her.

No one understands why Jiang Hang would pursue a village girl. The capital has plenty of beautiful girls waiting for him to return.

Some people bet that he's only having fun, and that he'll dump Cheng Xi as soon as he gets the chance to go back to the city.

But not only does he stay with her, he marries her and cherishes her with all his heart.

Later, while those people are still worrying about finding jobs back in the city, the couple opens a restaurant in the capital.
