Crowdfunded Planet: Farming Takes Off

Shi Tianxing woke up in an interstellar world. The good news was that his parallel-universe self had made his debut as a child star and had over a hundred million fans.

The bad news was that in this era of explosive celebrity popularity, he'd fallen out of the spotlight ten years ago, despite being so young.

As he drank tasteless nutrient fluid and gazed at the cultivable planets for sale on the interstellar net, Shi Tianxing, an agricultural science graduate student in his previous life, was practically drooling.

The reality show and livestream A Crowdfunded Planet for Farming burst onto the scene. It was funded and produced by a group of washed-up interstellar stars, including Shi Tianxing, a pure-blooded human, Lan Lan, a mermaid, and Mei Lesheng, a druid.

Unlike ordinary shows, cultivable planets were expensive. The stars covered thirty percent of the cost, and crowdfunded the remaining seventy percent from their fans before they could start filming.

On their first day on Blue Star, the washed-up stars saw the barren wilderness and began to have second thoughts.

They'd been out of the spotlight for ages and hoped to make a comeback.

Lured by their old friend Shi Tianxing's pitch, full of buzzwords like "natural food," "livestream variety show," and "restored cuisine," they resolutely sank all their savings into the project.

But putting their lack of experience aside, how were they supposed to farm Blue Star when its soil was as hard as brick?

Shi Tianxing silently produced his plan, "Three Years to Clear the Land, Five Years to Harvest." "We're already here. Why not give it a try?"

Interstellar inspectors noticed that their boss, You Ou, had been devoting all his attention lately to a tiny, forgotten planet.

They were sure something suspicious was going on.

Some investigated the records to see if there was any tax evasion.

Others went to inspect the site and check that the farming mechs were up to code.

Shi Tianxing had to deal with these people every few days. Finally, he couldn't take it anymore and called You Ou. "What is the meaning of this? Your people keep showing up and disrupting my farming."

You Ou: "I'm sorry, baby. I'll make sure to discipline them."

Shi Tianxing: "Well... why don't we make our relationship public? If they come back, I'll tell them to plow the fields!"

At first, people across the stars joined the crowdfunding for Farming Together to support the stars they used to love.

Later, they discovered that in this fast-paced world, watching stars of all species work hard and farm on a planet brought them a profound sense of peace and happiness.

And during harvest season, they could even claim natural food delivered right to their doors, shipping included.

But are the gift boxes from your family all delivered by the Interstellar Inspection Bureau?

That's going a bit overboard...
