I Gain Merit by Going to Work!

During college, Wen Yu found a part-time job with little work and great pay: he rented himself out through a companionship service.

He went to parent-teacher conferences for elementary school students, fed cats and dogs for people away on business, and accompanied young people whose lovers had died early to visit their graves. At a young age, he saw all the joys and sorrows of life.

After graduation, Wen Yu naturally stayed with the company and became a key employee.

The boss patted him on the shoulder. "Xiaoyu, I've earned enough merit to go into seclusion. I'll leave you in charge of the company for a few years."

Wen Yu: ??? What merit?

Once the boss left, all sorts of strange clients started appearing on the companionship app.

A skeleton buried for a hundred years asked him to replace its coffin. A bloodstained hairpin that had gained sentience hired him to remove its rust. The guardian spirit of a century-old house asked him to tell the family head's granddaughter to come home for dumplings.

Even a scruffy fox came to see him, asking if he could help it become a nationally protected animal.

Wen Yu: "Your kind is too numerous. Getting you a government job might be tough. But if you don't mind turning from a fox into a piggy, I can rent you out to tourists for artistic photos."
