Fu Heng, the Heavenly Emperor's third son, is brilliant and gifted, and the last disciple of an ancient God of War. He's exceptional in every way, from his looks to his abilities, yet he keeps making trouble for himself. Every few days, he goes to the Yellow Springs and forces his way through the Luocha Gate, all to seek a soul that no longer exists.
According to those in the know, a hundred years ago, when he descended to the mortal realm to undergo a trial, he had wronged a woman.
How could the dignified son of the Heavenly Emperor be brought low by something as trivial as love? Everyone tried to talk him out of it. Only an unremarkable junior sister from his sect kept cheering him on whenever he was ready to give up. “Senior Brother, you can do it. I believe in you.”
With his junior sister's encouragement, he finally scattered all his cultivation, and saw that familiar face in the Mirror of Reincarnation.
Before his soul dispersed, Fu Heng turned to stare at the junior sister standing behind him and gave a bitter smile. “Satisfied?”
The Three Realms all knew that Fu Heng, the Heavenly Emperor's third son, had nearly been reduced to ashes when he forced his way through the Luocha Gate. A fragment of his soul drifted for years, yet miraculously he survived. After recovering his cultivation, he stopped trying to enter the Luocha Gate, but instead picked a fight with a Bianhua growing by the Yellow Springs. He sat in front of her all day, and whenever a soul stepped onto the Yellow Springs and her petals opened, he would pour a jug of wine over her. For five hundred years, he never let her take shape.
Who knew that the Bianhua would be no pushover? After turning the tables, she fought her way to the Gate of Heaven.
Their grudges kept growing, even dragging the lovers in their lives into the mess. The two fought fiercely, from the Gate of Heaven all the way to the Road to the Yellow Springs, and from then on they became sworn enemies.
By all rights, they were at each other's throats and wished the other would be reduced to ashes. Yet on the day the Road to the Yellow Springs collapsed, Fu Heng suddenly fell from the Ninth Heaven into the Yellow Springs.
After the disaster, the entire Yellow Springs lay in ruins. The only thing left unharmed was the Bianhua in his arms, radiant and dewy.
Bianhua Sui Sui: The greatest misfortune of my life was meeting this idiot.
Bianhua Sui Sui: The greatest good fortune of my life was also meeting this idiot.
Fu Heng: I've died twice. Could you say something nice for once?
Bianhua Sui Sui: Fu Heng.
Fu Heng: Hmm?
Bianhua Sui Sui: I bloomed twice, just to see you.
Fu Heng: ...
Well, you bloomed beautifully. Don't bloom a third time.
