After Joining the Underworld, My Luck Soared and I Became Famous

Chu Rongshu is a hapless nobody in the entertainment industry.

Any show he appears in ends with either the director dying or the lead getting arrested. In seven years since his debut, almost none of his work has been released.

Even when he occasionally lands a variety show gig, it inevitably gets suspended for reasons beyond anyone's control.

One day, after finishing a bit part and walking down the street, he happens to see a metal billboard come crashing down toward a child by the roadside. Chu Rongshu rushes to help without hesitation.

But hapless Chu Rongshu happens to be caught in a crash of the Underworld app, and his soul is mistakenly taken.

The Great Emperor of Fengdu says, "I'm sorry, but you'll have to choose between dying and taking a job in the Underworld."

In tears, Chu Rongshu chooses to become an office drone. From then on, he's destined for a miserable life, working in the mortal world by day and in the Underworld by night.

Who would have thought that after signing away his freedom to the Underworld and waking up, he would discover that he had... become famous?

The circumstances were just a little strange.

A video of him risking his life to save someone suddenly goes viral on short-video platforms. Bystanders praise him as a warm flame in an indifferent age.

He's also held up as a model Good Samaritan, and a CCTV reporter wants to interview him.

One fan recognizes him from his silhouette in that brief one-minute video.

Isn't this her unlucky son, who's been a flop for eight hundred years and is still a nobody after half a lifetime in show business?

Then everyone discovers that Chu Rongshu is handsome, a good actor, and a natural on variety shows.

[I must have been blind before, aaaaah!]

[Shushu crossed my whole world before, and I never noticed this hidden gem!!]

As for Chu Rongshu himself...

He's busy catching ghosts while whimpering.

"Aaaaaah! Don't move! I'm scared of ghosts!"

As a side effect of the Underworld bug, content related to Chu Rongshu is the only channel from the mortal world that can be watched in the Underworld. As a result, Chu Rongshu becomes famous there, too.

Chu Rongshu has to hold two press conferences for every show, one in the mortal world and one in the Underworld.

Watching a sea of ghosts swarm in, each holding up one of his posters, Chu Rongshu lets out a long, exasperated sigh.

Looks like he needs a bodyguard in the Underworld, too.

A certain emperor appears out of nowhere and volunteers: "You mean me?"

All sorts of strange questions also start appearing on the forums.

[Does Chu Rongshu have some kind of special constitution? Why did my grandmother, who's been dead for years, appear in a dream yesterday and ask me to burn her a ticket to Chu Rongshu's latest movie? She specifically asked for the midnight showing.]

[Why does it feel like I'm not the only one watching Shushu's midnight movie, even though I booked the whole theater?]
