After My Archenemy Returned Victorious to the Capital

As soon as word arrived that Ji Huan was returning to Shengjing in triumph, everyone couldn't help turning to look at Fifth Princess Xuan Lichu.

Who didn't know that the two of them had been sworn rivals since they first met at the palace school as children?

From reciting texts and shooting arrows to cockfighting and dog racing, they had to compete at everything.

They even raced to see who could climb over a wall faster.

On countless sleepless nights, Xuan Lichu had thrown darts at the little effigy bearing Ji Huan's name, over and over, in a fit of rage.

Long ago, her father had forced her to mend her ways, and now the composed and gracious mask Xuan Lichu wore had begun to crack.

Wouldn't that mean her glorious childhood days of climbing walls, cockfighting, and calling herself the Little Tyrant of the Capital would be dug up and dragged through the mud all over again?

Especially by that Ji Huan fellow. He had plenty of dirt on her.

Ji Huan was practically dragged back to Shengjing by his parents.

He was a dashing young general in shining silver armor, the dream man of countless young women in the sixteen prefectures of the borderlands, and the renowned young general of the Ji family, famous from an early age.

But when he thought of the Little Tyrant of the Capital, who had bickered with him since childhood, was willful and unruly, and could knock someone out with a single punch, then remembered all the embarrassing childhood antics of his own that she'd seen, his vision went black.

Xuan Lichu followed her father to greet him, deeply unwilling.

She saw a man sitting atop a tall horse. Unlike the young dandies of the capital, he wore only a light robe beneath his silver armor in the dead of winter. His back was straight, and he had an air of pride. Her eyes lit up at once.

Then the man swung down from his horse and announced in a clear voice, "Your servant Ji Huan has returned without fail."

Her father smiled at her. "Achu, look! Ah Huan has grown into a great general."

Ji Huan glanced at the woman in a cloak, poised and delicate.

They stared at each other in shock.

Who is this person?!

P.S.

A lighthearted little treat. Just for fun. If you like it, please add it to your favorites, mwah!
