There Is Something Seriously Off About This Crown Prince

Liu Ying transmigrated to the Great Qian dynasty more than a decade ago. As a farmer's son, everyone says he was born lucky.

He was buried as a stillborn baby right after birth, but an old Daoist discovered he was still breathing and saved his life.

Liu Ying never mentions that it was his own wailing that drew the man over.

He was captured by bandits and taken to their mountain stronghold for a feast. The cook accidentally put rat poison in the food, killing everyone but him.

Liu Ying won't tell anyone that the cook had poor eyesight and, with his help, mistook the rat poison for salt.

His good fortune is all thanks to his own efforts. Liu Ying figured he'd sit for the imperial examinations, become an official, rise through the ranks, and turn into a lucky general. He never expected his birth father to become emperor, with the court officials coming to bring him back as the crown prince.

Liu Ying: "..." When he said he was lucky, he was joking. Did you really have to take him seriously?

Liu Ying looks at the brocade-clad guards kneeling before him and falls silent. If he remembers right, the throne of the Great Qian dynasty is notoriously deadly. He's only fifteen, yet he's already worn mourning clothes for four emperors who passed away!

Liu Ying says, "Why is the emperor's mortality rate so high?"

The brocade-clad guard answers, "Exactly. The Taizong line has died out, so the throne is returning to the ancestral line of Taizu."

Liu Ying: "Did my father really want to be emperor?"

The guard honestly shakes his head. "No. The princes knocked him unconscious and put him on the throne. When they learned you were still alive, they were overjoyed."

Liu Ying: "..." They were even going to investigate whether he was really a stillborn. It's obvious they truly don't want to be emperor.

1. The setting is fictional. No historical nitpicking, please.

2. This is probably a slow-burn story. The world is ordinary; the only extraordinary thing is the male lead.
