I Became a Flirty Little Widow in a Period Novel [The 1970s]

When Lian Song woke up, she was poor, widowed, and suddenly a mother.

It turned out she had transmigrated into the tearjerker period drama Mom, I'm Sorry, becoming the neighbor who served as a foil to the heroine.

In the show, the heroine and her widowed neighbor take completely different paths in life.

The heroine raises three children and her younger siblings alone. Though she faces countless hardships and meets all kinds of eligible young men along the way, she never falls for any of them. She devotes herself entirely to raising the children and earns an excellent reputation in the compound.

The supporting female character, by contrast, is sharp-tongued, scheming, and selfish. She won't even help her struggling family, and she strings along one, two, three, four, five young men in the compound to get free food and drink, earning a terrible reputation.

Eventually, people expose her true nature as a woman who flirts with men left and right. With no income left at home, she can't bear the hardship and dies of grief. Fortunately, her son is adopted by one of her husband's comrades.

Lian Song, newly transmigrated into the woman's body, looks up at the bare room, then down at the pork belly sent by her first male contestant...

Lian Song: Um... she can't take this kind of hardship either. So, I mean, it's not like being a player is out of the question.

Song Xuefei receives a farewell letter from a comrade who has died in battle. In it, his comrade entrusts his wife and child to him. Song Xuefei understands what the letter means. Many men in the army marry their fallen comrades' widows, adopt their children, and support their elders. It's the responsibility they shoulder on behalf of their deceased comrades.

But when he arrives at his comrade's home, he finds several men in the courtyard glaring at one another. One of them asks Song Xuefei, "We're here to propose to this family. What are you here for?"

Song Xuefei: ...What a coincidence. So am I.

P.S. The heroine is a player with a severe case of laziness. Her values aren't exactly upright, and all she wants is to lie flat. The male lead has proper values and is extremely strict. He'll reform her misguided thinking.
