A Scripted Secret Crush

[Childhood Rivals Marry First, Fall in Love Later]

Jiang Yining never expected that the first patient whose sterilization surgery she performed would be the dog of Zhou Xun, her childhood friend and longtime rival, whom she hadn’t seen in years.

He was exactly as she remembered: just as arrogant and infuriating, strutting around like he owned the world.

As luck would have it, she kept running into him at the veterinary clinic after that, always with his dog in tow.

As the attending vet, she witnessed countless mortifying incidents involving the dog:

An upset stomach? It had eaten too much dog food and was stuffed.

A limp? It had broken a vase, feared getting scolded, and was faking it.

The dog was just as petty as its owner, and after a few visits, it began holding a grudge against her.

They nearly had a “doctor-patient dispute” that crossed species lines.

Unable to escape her family’s relentless matchmaking, Jiang Yining weighed her options and accepted Zhou Xun’s suggestion that they get married for convenience.

They were childhood friends who knew each other inside out, and both families were delighted.

She was still a little hesitant, though. “Do we really look like we have a romantic history?”

Pinning down his snarling, struggling dog, he replied without batting an eye:

“Of course we do. Look how much my dog likes you. I’m just extending that affection to you.”

“...”

*So I’m the dog after all.
