Spring's Surprise

[Marriage first, love later] [A long-planned scheme] [Secretly married to her childhood friend]

It's widely rumored in the industry that actress Su Yushi got the rights to popular author Cen Jin's new novel because the two of them are more than just friends.

The rumors aren't wrong.

At a banquet, the two attended together, his tie matching her dress. Su Yushi's eyes sparkled and her hair shone as she held his arm, smiling and acting intimately with him. They stole the spotlight.

But the wineglass she casually set down seemed to mark out the exact distance they should keep between them.

As soon as they were out of sight, Su Yushi couldn't wait to pull away from Cen Jin and put some distance between them.

"Business is business, and friendship is friendship."

Cen Jin looked as if he'd expected that. "And what kind of friendship do we have?"

"..." Su Yushi had no answer.

Back in the days everyone loved to gossip about, they sat on opposite sides of a gap between their desks, studying furiously in the spring before the college entrance exams. They were both determined to win, constantly trading barbs and trying to outdo each other.

You could hardly call that a good friendship.

She had no idea what he was thinking when he agreed to work with her.

Cen Jin smiled faintly and stepped closer, inclining his head.

"I know you're competitive, so this time, I'll let you..."

"...steal the spotlight."
