--- Mutual devotion
Blurb:
The immortal official Meng Lanqu came down to the mortal realm without permission. The Celestial Lord knows, and so does the chief official on the opposing side, but they both pretend not to notice.
Neither sends a divine general to arrest him, nor a ghost soldier to capture him.
Painter Meng has embarked on another perilous journey of redemption.
Later, it seems our immortal official Meng has defected, and the Celestial Lord panics.
He sends an immortal official to bring Meng Lanqu in, but the chief official refuses to let him go.
Celestial Lord: "Even as a demon, you should still uphold benevolence and honesty! Chief official, release him at once!"
Chief official: "Once you're on my turf, you're one of my people. My subordinates aren't your immortal officials."
Chief official: "I'm not letting him go!" (In a domineering tone.)
But Meng Lanqu, the person at the center of all this, hasn't said a word yet.
Meng Lanqu: "How about we roll some dice to decide?"
Reader's note:
The blurb may be adjusted when the story officially begins, but the main plot won't change. This isn't an ensemble cast story.
The worldbuilding is wild and freewheeling, with a sweet-and-angsty tone.
Couple keywords: immortal official and chief official; painter (scholar) and general. They have past-life connections.
The main character has a secret identity in the story.
Both are each other's only one, happy ending.
I'll add anything else that comes to mind.
