The worldbuilding is completely freewheeling and includes many original details. Everything serves the plot. There is more plot than romance, so please skip this if that bothers you.
Important notice:
Both leads have had a previous romantic relationship (ordinary ones). Neither is a blank slate when it comes to love; this is all in service of the plot.
The hero had a former wife (deceased), and the heroine has an ex-husband (still alive). For a time, the hero remains in unrequited love, brooding in the shadows.
The heroine is an outlaw among the immortals, and ordinary immortals can’t do much about her. She really is bad-tempered, so don’t expect her to meet high moral standards. That’s just who she is.
The heroine’s true form is a fox, an actual purple fox. Just a reminder.
The hero has two names: his old name is Shen Xun, and his current name is Shen Xunche. It makes sense for the emperor to call him A-Xun.
The story’s setting draws on historical references, but the author is terrible at history, so please stay away if you’re a stickler for historical accuracy. The author likes to show off with fancy words, so skip this if that bothers you.
