My Ambitious Mom from a Wealthy Family Has Awakened

From a young age, Ruan Ying's mother taught her to work hard and be diligent. Starting at age three, she enrolled in every class, from math to music to dance.

Ruan Ying was exhausted, but she kept trying so she wouldn't disappoint her mother.

Then, when she was five, her mother suddenly seemed like a different person, saying things Ruan Ying couldn't understand.

After that, she no longer had to attend extracurricular classes, and her mother stopped pushing her to study.

Her mother's motto changed from "Hard work pays off" to "Do whatever you like."

.

Ruan Yuning was determined to raise her daughter to be a proper young lady, so no one would look down on them anymore.

But one day, she discovered that she was actually a cannon-fodder supporting female character in a book.

On an upcoming variety show, she and her well-behaved daughter were set up as a contrast to the female lead's lively, innocent daughter.

The other little girl only had to act cute and sweet to win everyone's attention and the audience's affection.

Ruan Yuning's daughter, meanwhile, was criticized for being too sensible and not acting like a child, then called calculating when she volunteered to show off her talents.

Ruan Yuning: Heh. Whoever wants to compete can go ahead. I'm done competing.

.

On the parent-child variety show, everyone was waiting to laugh at Ruan Yuning, who had married into a wealthy family, and her daughter.

[Heard Ruan Yuning had her daughter study all kinds of things, but the girl still isn't likable.]

[That little girl is strange and quiet. No one in the Lu family likes her.]

The show began.

Her stepbrother burst into tears, demanding to share his little sister's surname. Ruan Ying comforted him with practiced care: "Don't cry, big brother. Even if you don't take my surname, I'll still think of you as my big brother."

Her aunt tried to secretly tutor her, but Ruan Ying's little face wore a world-weary expression. "Auntie, I learned to write these characters when I was four!"

When asked if her mother had forced her to take lots of classes, Ruan Ying, having just demonstrated all sorts of talents, protested loudly: "Not at all! Mom says I can do whatever I like!"

After that, the comments gradually changed their tune.

[Come here for a hug, Yingying! I want to take Yingying's surname too!]

[Get in line if you want a hug. Her dad, aunt, and brother haven't had enough yet!]

.

Ruan Ying was baffled. She wasn't working as hard as before, so why did everyone like her more?
