Stars Appear in Daylight

Xun Chi had been secretly in love with Lu Qinghuai for seven years. He knew what Lu Qinghuai liked and was familiar with all his habits.

The closest they ever got was their rankings on the grade sheet, and the occasional moment when Xun Chi got caught stealing a glance.

Lu Qinghuai was a prodigy with top grades, a cool and distant academic star who seemed impossible to reach.

Xun Chi had struggled his way up from the mud and had never imagined he would have anything to do with him.

When dorm assignments came around at the start of the new semester, Xun Chi was assigned to Lu Qinghuai's room.

Xun Chi carefully hid his crush. He didn't talk to Lu Qinghuai or touch his things. Whenever Lu Qinghuai was around, Xun Chi even slowed his breathing.

Until one day, Lu Qinghuai cornered him on the balcony and looked down at him. "Xun Chi, is this how you pursue someone?"

Lu Qinghuai seemed disciplined and cold on the surface, but in truth he was both crazy and cruel, with an intense possessive streak. The new student assigned to his dorm was his "mortal enemy," according to campus gossip.

He silently stole first place, acted indifferent whenever he saw Lu Qinghuai, and pretended not to know him when they ran into each other off campus.

Lu Qinghuai remembered the first time he saw him.

The high school bathroom. The sink. Dim lighting.

A boy covered in grime and blood slowly removed his black mask, his expression cold and irritated, and methodically scrubbed the dried blood from his knuckles.

Lu Qinghuai had always thought Xun Chi hated him. Then, one day...

He accidentally caught Xun Chi burying his face in Lu Qinghuai's school uniform. The tip of his ear, usually so pale, stuck out from beneath his black hair, red as if it were about to bleed.

Lu Qinghuai began to think things might not be quite what he'd assumed.

From a one-sided crush to mutual devotion. It's all about the push and pull and the art of luring someone in. (The longest road Xun Chi ever traveled was Lu Qinghuai's elaborate scheme.)
