In his previous life, Ying Jiuwei was ruthless and skilled in political schemes. In the end, he was sentenced to death by a thousand cuts. As he lay dying in the rain, soaked in blood, he thought he saw a blurry figure approaching, cold and sharp... The rain poured down. A man sat high on horseback and glanced down at him. "Drag him off and feed him to the dogs." - Reborn in a single moment. Ying Jiuwei found himself living six months before his death, as Shen Dieqing, the second son of Gu Hongyu, Minister of Personnel. More than a hundred doctors in the capital had all declared he wouldn't live past twenty-one. In short, Ying Jiuwei was alive, but not quite. In another six months, he'd be dead again. What a headache. And wouldn't you know it, this new identity came with a childhood sweetheart: Yan Fangxin, the very man who'd ordered him fed to the dogs. Yan Cui was his real name. He was the second son of the current chancellor. Fangxin was the courtesy name Ying Jiuwei had given him. At the time, Yan Cui had glared at him coldly, but later accepted the girlish-sounding name without complaint. Yan Cui was a seasoned warrior who kept his heart and desires in check and had no interest in women. He had firmly turned down the emperor's repeated offers to arrange a marriage for him. According to rumors, he was deeply in love with his frail childhood sweetheart, Shen Dieqing, and planned to marry him once he had distinguished himself in battle. ...Ying Jiuwei thought it might be better to just die.
