My Beloved Husband at Home

A classic web-novel trigger-warning blurb:

One day, Jing Niang, a farm woman with an unevenly featured face, happens to rescue an impossibly handsome man from outside the village. Her sickly husband has been dead for more than half a year, so she happily carries the man home, planning to make him her new husband.

But her new husband seems very unwilling to marry her.

“Ugly woman, you think I'll agree to be your husband? Dream on!” The handsome man hits and curses her as soon as he wakes up. “I'd rather die. I'd jump into the river and drown myself before I'd ever agree to marry you.”

Just half a year later, the handsome man clings to her sleeve and refuses to let go, tears streaming down his face as he threatens her in a loud, fierce voice.

“Ugly woman, I want you to be my wife. Refuse me again and I'll break your legs!”

This story has a lot going on. Please note the potential trigger points:

1: The plot in Changliu Village focuses on farming, social critique, and building the foundation of the relationship. By the end, nearly everyone in the village except the leads is dead. If that is not for you, think carefully before reading, or skip this part of the story.

2: This is a gender-bender story. The female lead is the strong one, and the male lead is the beautiful one. They dote on each other. No harem, no redemption. (The male lead is redeemed, and the female lead has a harem. Whether the ending is one-on-one or one-to-many depends on how the plot goes.)

3: This story is melodramatic, melodramatic, and damn melodramatic. Important things have to be said three times.

There's a lot packed into the story, with every kind of melodramatic trope gathered together. There's bound to be at least one that gets you.

The full story is complete, with a post-marriage bonus chapter added. Character designs are on Weibo.

Theme: Beautiful but foolish men, who doesn't love them?
