I Woke Up to Find My Nemesis Had Become My Creditor

Xiao Wang and Mu Xianci are the most powerful monster hunters around, and they’re tied for first place on the wealth rankings by a mile.

They steal each other’s prey and wreck each other’s storage rooms. Whenever they meet, they fight until the world is turned upside down. Everyone knows they’re sworn enemies.

Plenty of people secretly bet that sooner or later, one of them would die at the other’s hands.

Later, Mu Xianci stopped breathing in Xiao Wang’s arms.

With bloodied hands, he grabbed Xiao Wang by the lapels and kissed him hard on the lips.

What a vicious final act of revenge!

Everyone thought Xiao Wang must have gone mad with rage, wishing he could grind Mu Xianci’s bones to dust.

Xiao Wang really did go mad. From then on, he hunted monsters at the cost of his own life. He despised ghosts and monsters, and hated humans too. He acted like a demon from the underworld, and the stories about him grew more and more sinister.

Until a year later, someone saw Xiao Wang standing behind Mu Xianci, who had come back from the dead, gently wiping the blood from his cheek.

In private, Xiao Wang had pinned Mu Xianci beneath him countless times, demanding to know what that kiss had meant.

Mu Xianci couldn’t answer. After faking his death and escaping, he’d lost all his memories.

“You don’t have to tell me,” Xiao Wang said, tempering his violence as he pulled out an asset transfer agreement Mu Xianci himself had written, listing a sum of money with an absurd number of digits. His voice held a hint of amused composure. “Pay me back. Until you’ve paid it all off, you’re not leaving my side.”

Mu Xianci: …SOS! Where did all my money go, and why did I kiss him? Can I at least remember one of those things?

Premise: Hold on to hope all the more as dawn approaches.
